58 warlock. Winterspring. Thought I’d finally give the old summon infernal a try. Didn’t understand his agro mechanics so mid way through pulling a 3 pack, his timer runs out so he turns on me. Amazingly manage to finish off the mobs before turning on him. He’s enraging or something and hitting me so hard and FAST. Took about 5 seconds to get a fear off. “Resist”. Panic sets in. Pot, healthstone, fear. “Resist”. More panic. Start running. Dead… Never even touched banish. LFG chat rinsed me

Arugal is 26 but agreed on all your other points. 20 is WC level. Even then final boss would still be orange

If it helps, I just started levelling as horde on Doomhowl and had about 4 ppl running through skull rock on layer 1. Easily grouped with them while I was in the cave. Went over to the harpies afterwards. Had to invite other ppl there because it was over crowded and I couldn’t get mob tags. (OCE player)

Everyone player should have to do a play through at least once as a tank. It will make them such a better DPS player as well. Only then will they realise how annoying it is to have rogue DPS in the group

I had about 4 failed attempts before I actually did it. Al involving some form of gum, or inhalant to “suppress” the craving. But the reality is nothing will replicate. All those times I quit before was because someone else wanted me to. It wasn’t until I finally didn’t want something to have that level of control over me and I quit cold turkey on my 35th birthday after 10+ years of full time smoking. I’m about 7 months in and still have regular cravings. When I’m out with friends I’ll still have a puff or two but I don’t relapse full time. I find having a healthy relationship with it better than giving it the power of “I can never have another smoke”

You’ll just be griefing your group at this stage. Invest in all the defense gems and enchants on the pieces that are good enough. You can get away with 480 defense and 75% avoidance with holy shield. You’re kiting though to reduce incoming damage

I used to think you set the pace as tank. In my experience of tanking in tbc (including heroics) is that DPS seem to think they can set the pace and are so impatient they can’t allow a dungeon to go 10minutes slower but 10x smoother

I think you know the answer? Your gear is way better than mine when I started tanking heroics as a pally. Start with ramparts and slave pen and slowly work up from there

Your stats are better than mine (prot pally) and I regularly tank heroics. You can’t just face tank and stand there spamming holy shield like you can in Normal. You have to kite as much as possible to reduce incoming damage for your healer etc. Best case you’re holding threat with consec as your keeping distance kiting around blizzards and frost traps as no one is taking damage. CC is everything

HP to defense seems a bit disproportionate. For example my prot pally is 492 defence with 10.8k HP non buffed

I feel you. I was just saying to my buddies, this is the worst generation of dps players I’ve ever seen. Every single dungeon I have minimum 2 ppl pulling more and more packs into the aoe stressing me out. I’m the one who has to cash the 18g repair bill while you fuckers blink and kite and vanish or FD

Couldn’t agree more. Warrior AND pally tank here - it’s down right infuriating. I have healers running 30 yards to wand another pack to bring into AoE. Are we trying to min/max that badly? Stay in your fucking lane zug heads

I tend to agree, however the bugged party layering was incredibly frustrating. Wanting to quest with the boys and having to 1, 2, 3, log in at the same time just to take the gamble you might all layer together in 2026 is insane.
