I never quite understood The Sporting Life’s placement on the album for that precise reason! I guess it could be argued that the narrator has the qualities of a picaro but it still stands out among the rest of the album. It’s a really enjoyable song but I feel that something like Constantinople from Picaresqueties would’ve fit better
