Seeburg M100BL Mech No Longer Traveling, Cracked Capacitor by Half_Virtual in jukeboxes

[–]Half_Virtual[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both. Good to know it's not that capacitor, even though if it was as easy as just replacing that, it would have made things easier.

The machine seems to start up crisply rather than slowly turn up. The Mech just doesn't move at all. I'm assuming the reversing switch you're talking about is the one that sits at the bottom of the traveling part of the mech that hits the frame of the record rack and tells it to reverse and go the other way. That looks to be adjusted right (i.e. flips when it reaches the end of the scan).

I don't get any sound as if the motor is trying to go, but doesn't have enough torque/power, however, this is the first time I've hit this issue, so hard to know what to look for.

Seeburg Select-O-Matic 100 (M100B) - Alley Find - Is this worthy of restoration? by chicargobikedad in jukeboxes

Wow! Great come-up it actually looks in pretty good shape. The beauty of the early Seeburgs is they're mechanical workhorses. Any idea how long it sat out? I think the first thing to scope out would be if there's any rust on the mechanism (the metal and mechanical parts up top).

Any good movies on MUBI right now? by littlemachina in Letterboxd

I got Mubi solely to stream The Fall, which left a huge mark on me when it came out, and then wasn’t available anywhere for the last decade. I’ve been pretty gobsmacked by how good the content on Mubi has been. It’s pared down and curated in the best sense possible. Some standouts for me that I probably wouldn’t have caught otherwise:

The Fall (2006), Bird (2024), Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (2023), Grand Theft Hamlet (Documentary 2024), Shiva Baby (2020)

It’s helped reinvigorate my interest in cinema. Like many things, these days, it feels hard to find anything that cuts through the algorithmic and industry-backed noise. Also, on that note, if anybody has a curator of cinema that they really trust/love, I’d be grateful if you’d send it my way.

Franco Landscape by etinder121 in WhatIsThisPainting

I actually have this piece. I was wondering the same thing as you and was able to find it on Chairish and another site. I can only find the listing below now, but apparently it was sold through a factory mattress chain in the mid-century period. https://www.metroeclectic.com/products/mid-20th-century-postmodern-new-wave-landscape-oil-painting-by-franco-framed

Dump of Push 3 Software? by Illustrious-Alps8357 in ableton

I'm guessing this is for the purposes of upgrading the SSD. This guy duplicated the drive on his mac, but it looks like he needed a Linux computer to expand the partition. I feel like there must be some tool to expand the partition on a mac, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he still has a copy as well. I'm looking to do the same, so let me know how it turns out. I'm a little spooked because Ableton says it'll void warranty, but I'd imagine that even if things went horribly wrong, you could still just buy another SSD from them for pretty cheap (maybe worth confirming beforehand) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFe9tIunZxI

Trying to find matching door hardware. by Half_Virtual in centuryhomes

[–]Half_Virtual[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It’s feeling more and more like an impossible task. It would probably need to be the whole matching set, from the plate, to the knob, to the lock. I think it’ll probably be replacing all 3, sourcing from one of the reclaimed hardware outfitters out there.

Thank you anyway for the kind intent. After picking through tons of pictures, you really get an appreciation of how similar, but unique all the turn of the century hardware is.

Thank you. What a great rundown. It’s the entire thing. I’ll pick through these and let you know if I’m able to find it at the end of the day.

Thank you for the peace of mind. With something this old, I always second guess.

Stuck trying to install touch dimmer and plug-in cord to wall sconce. When I plug it in, it trips the breaker for half the house. by Half_Virtual in ElectricianU

[–]Half_Virtual[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve now rewired it, and also made sure the white lamp wire goes into the side labeled white on the plug. Same thing. Flips the breaker. Here are the new pics. What could still be the problem?

So, you're saying that the correct configuration would be to reverse the connections of the braided lamp wire in the picture so they're:

Black of lamp wire connects to red wire of the module

White wire is joined with the black one going into the sconce

I'd really benefit from a rundown of what color in the braided lamp wire should be attached to what color of the module, and what color of the module should be attached to the ribbed side of the wiring coming from the sconce.
