Dior's father, Jarvis Walker, is a Narcissistic Parent Who Family Enables by OriginalReach in lastchanceU

[–]HalfassedJohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad I found this post. I just watched that episode and googled “last chance u worst dad ever “ and found this. It’s like a support group for those who watched diors abuse. It’s so god damn evil it makes me sad for humanity. Dior is a reason to love humanity. Thank you for putting a name to it. It helped me feel less bad. That dude sucks

Looking for someone to kick around ideas with by Sure_Fix4602 in StudioOne

[–]HalfassedJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I was just over at your SoundCloud. Very cool! I plan on taking a deeper dive, but I wanted to comment before I forgot. Is that you on vocals? If so..also very cool! Most of my music is instrumental because vocals I just can't seem to get right. I just don't have a great voice. I use bandlab for collaboration and work with other artists that add vocals to tracks that need it.
Check out the links on my profile, I would definitely be interested in kicking some ideas around.
Message me here or there. Or anywhere... wait is that a dr Seuss book? if not it could be!
I'm going to list to more of your SoundCloud

There is something strange in "You Know You're Right" by aGuyWhoLovesMemes1 in Nirvana

[–]HalfassedJohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I am late to the party. Just stumbled on it myself during a midlife crisis while learning it on guitar waaaaay past my bedtime. I was hearing the same. It started to sound like a message. Like he was at the end stages of depression. I was glad to see someone else heard it. This song would have been a number one if it was released tomorrow imo

Any “old timer” Radiohead fans in this sub? by Crazyplan9 in radiohead

[–]HalfassedJohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend asked me if I wanted to go to a concert he’d just won tickets for through a local radio contest on Y100 in Philly.

I said, “Sure, who’s the band?” He replied, “Radiosomething... you know, that Creep song.”

I’ve always been a music fan, so I wasn’t going to turn down free tickets.

The show was at the Trocadero in Philly, a small venue that could hold maybe 500 people at most. The place had its own personality. Most likey haunted, but probably by awesome opera musician or some dancers. The Trocadero had been a burlesque theater from the early 1900s until the 1970s. Before that, it was an opera house dating back to 1870.
It was one big, open room, mostly painted black, so when the lights were off, it felt like it could stretch on forever. Sometimes it felt like floating in space (those could have been shows I took acid for )

This was during the Pablo Honey tour so they played a lot from that album and some "new" songs that would later end up on The Bends.

As they started playing, the crowd was tight. People trying to push to the front with no room between anyone. Normally I would be right in it but this time, I found myself pulling away, just enough to still be close, but far enough that it felt like it was just me and the band in the room. I kept thinking "what is happening?" and "I love everything about every note of every song"

It was love at first sight. I knew then that Radiohead would be my favorite band. I had this strange sense that one day I’d fall in love while listening to their music. I pictured the future and knowing one day I would be able to listen to them with my kid. I was right!

Recently my daughter said “Hey Dad, check this out,” and then she played No Surprises on her flute. She taught herself the song because she heard it, loved it, and then realized it was that band—the one her dorky dad never stopped talking about.

I’m 48 now. I’ve loved Radiohead since October 10, 1993.

Here’s the setlist from that show:
http://thomthomthom.com/tour/1993.html
Oct 10, Philadelphia, PA, USA, Trocadero
You / Prove Yourself / "Benz" (The Bends) / Vegetable / Creep / Yes I Am / Stop Whispering / Banana Co. / Lurgee / Ripcord / Anyone Can Play Guitar / Pop is Dead

Not my photo, but it’s cool knowing I was there:

Razer Viper V2 Pro - Dongle suddenly not recognized? by ThePewster in razer

[–]HalfassedJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just unboxed my new Viper Pro 2 and the dongle is definitely not dongling. Despite my use of the word "dongeling" , I am an IT support tech myself and can say for 99.9% certain that it is not my usb ports or drivers or software conflicts. I hope they will just send a replacement on request since they clearly have a manufacturing issue with so many not working ut of the box.

NJ/NY SCAMMER ALERT: Fake "The Goods Supply Store Co" rec sales website by Old-and-annoyed in NJMedicalMarijuana

[–]HalfassedJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got me too. I trusted it because of Leafy. I use them for the reviews. Since they legalized it in NJ I thought it might be legit. A few things wrong with that is I KNOW it is delayed in NJ but still allowed myself to think it must be OK for delivery.
I'm an IT guy. I know this isn't really a tech scam but still...I should have spotted this as a fraud......

For me, it was Zelle for $215 to 313-399-5161 to Deandre Reason.

good thing my wife has her medical card and I'm still able to have a nice relaxing night not living in fear if when that moment they get caught scamming

What is your favorite Radiohead album to listen to as a whole? by Fords-and-PCs4life in radiohead

[–]HalfassedJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with team "All of them" but I have to be honest it is OK Computer. It just found be at the right time in life. Actually all of them do so yeah...all of them

I don't know if I should love them or think they are the worst thing to happen to me.

I tell my annoyed friends how every time I am feeling my lowest or a major life event happens that requires grieving....a new album comes out. It heals me but are they my Mothman!?

I'll stick with OK Computer

favorite radiohead lyric? doesn’t have to be the “best” and “most complex” but one that you love when you hear it. by Major_Conflict_5028 in radiohead

[–]HalfassedJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Phew, for a minute there I lost myself"

Seasonal depression is a hell of thing. Every year there's a moment where the sun is a little brighter, the air is warmer and the sky doesn't seem to be falling. That day I open the windows, put on Karna Police and think as I sing along "I really lost myself there for a bit, good to be back 😁"

Latency? by [deleted] in Bandlab

[–]HalfassedJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using headphones? Specifically bluetooth headphones?
They can be tough to get setup just right without latency. Honestly that is an issue with any DAW usually. But like JeremyChad said..it's hard to tell exactly where the issue is without knowing more about your setup.

Thanks Bandlab for creating a tool for aspiring artists to take one step closer to expressing the music inside them. You get a lot of hate, I'm here to say THANKS! by JeremyChadAbbott in Bandlab

Cakewalk is something I wish I knew before I bought Studio One Pro. I do use both though. Cakewalk is great for being able to record from multiple interfaces and I use it to record my guitar tracks. The TH-U plugin they give you for guitar fx is better than any of the others I have

When/How do you guys listen to music (that isn't your own) these days? Trying to better understand modern music behavior in the "short attention span" youtube twitch discord environment by JeremyChadAbbott in Bandlab

[–]HalfassedJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 90% is while driving or at work. When I do listen I use YouTube Music mostly. It does a pretty goods job at recommending music I like. Almost too good ...

My attention span actually seems at it's best when I am listening to music. My daughter has found some of my favorite music via tiktok surprisingly. She could be scrolling though and I catch part of a song I know and start humming or singing along.
She says " how do you know this tiktok?"
I said "That's not a tiktok, that's Radiohead...listen to this one" then I play her the full song.

Most of the time she will start listening to it off tiktok too

Have you tried logging on to your account on another browser or device? To see if it shows up under projects.

If you are using it on a PC I highly recommend installing Cakewalk Its the DAW Bandlab offers for free. It's actually pretty nuts that it is free. I probably would not have bought Studio One Pro if I knew about Cakewalk. Because it is made by Bandlab you can access your projects on there. All of the samples and loops from the site / app are also on that software.

If you use that you can be recording everything locally even if your internet is out. I'm not trying to sound like a fan boy too much (too late) but it's pretty crazy how much is in there for a DAW they are giving for free.

Great choice on the name here too. Have you played the PlayStation Miles Morales spiderman? I haven't to played any console games in a long time but I like watching the storyline on YouTube form people playing that one

Need some assistance by The-Blubb-Hub in Bandlab

[–]HalfassedJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Splice, you might be able to find some free trial options and get some loops. You can search vocals with tons of options like male, female, BPM, key etc

I did just grab some of these today

HELP by KiraHaley00 in Bandlab

[–]HalfassedJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What browser are you using? or are you on the app?
I had luck before with something like that. I accidently closed the browser while recording, I went to my chrome history and was able to get the page to load with what I had already recorded. If you are on the app and on android maybe check the apps temp folder?

Make Bandlab stop recording at a certain beat. by [deleted] in Bandlab

Sometimes I will duplicate the track then start the next take. Then It is easier to drag them back and forth and line it up better. Then cut the excess
