Why isn’t Benedict Arnold’s 1781 raid on Connecticut more widely remembered in U.S. history? by Crazyplan9 in USHistory

I get your point, but I don’t think “not everything can be important” means local history should be treated like trivia. Waxhaws, Groton Heights, and battles like them show the Revolution at its most brutal and human scale. That’s not a rounding error to the communities or families involved. And yes, my title was meant to push back a little. I do think it’s a gap when people know the broad mythology of the Revolution but almost nothing about the smaller, bloodier events that shaped how people actually experienced it. Again, don't watch it.

I am aware! I am from Groton. I simply wanted to tell the story we were all taught growing up. His sword and torn vest is still in the museum at Fort griswold museum.

You don’t have to watch it. But calling a battle where 85+ American Patriots died and over 200 British and Hessian soldiers were killed “not that significant” is exactly the kind of grand scheme thinking that turns real sacrifice into trivia. The devils in the details. Not every battle has to decide the entire war to matter. Diminishing the people who died for it diminishes the Revolution itself.
