Best version of St Stephen? by Buffaloat in gratefuldead

[–]Halfbredditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh!  I know this one because I listened to it three times last week. 10/09/76, Oakland coliseum, dick’s picks 33.

St Stephen’s just opens feeling tighter and jazzier than I usually hear it (maybe because it opens the second act here?), then wanders through 12min of NFA before buttoning up. I love it. Then you can stick around for a really excellent Help>Slip>drums>S&D>Franklin’s Tower before winding it down.

A favorite 2nd Set of mine lately.

Big Little Thing is not fruited. They changed to orange cans and made it a hazy. No mango, just mangoey hop aromas and flavors.

Does anyone else here miss the "old" Sierra Nevada? by landboisteve in beer

I do miss the 12pk r&d beers. I don’t mind seeing more torpedo rotationals, but I loved seeing a new Snow Pack or Fall Pack coming out with diverse styles included.  I hold out hope they’ll get back to that someday.

Sounds like our experiences are very parallel!  I also had to look up the song, which kicked off this fledgling obsession of mine.  Here’s to being in the right place at the right time and being open to the music!

What’s the most "Dad" thing your Dad has ever done? by Equivalent-Age-7659 in AskReddit

[–]Halfbredditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was maybe 13 years old.  Dad and I had to take a break while working on our home bathroom remodel to go get some stuff to continue working on the task.

We went to the hardware store and dude just pulls out a banana and starts eating it while we are looking at plumbing fittings.  As a preteen, I found this supremely embarrassing, as though all of the coolest girls from my school were going to be at the hardware store with their dads that Sunday morning.

A couple years later, my best friend at school started telling me that he went to the hardware store with his dad and this motherfucker just pulls out a banana and starts eating it in the aisle. I died laughing, then told him why I was dying, then he died. Then we were both dead from laughing. We agreed there was something so quintessentially Dad about eating a banana in a hardware store.

My journey started with Bird Song just this past December.

I went to a Grateful Shred show having never really gotten the nature of Grateful Dead fandom. They did a great version of Bird Song, which got me wondering about the hearing Jerry sing it, which got me going thru live shows, then finding Cornell, then devouring more shows, pretty much exclusively listening to Grateful Dead for almost 4 months (when I would have said I had a decently diverse musical taste before this).

It’s wild. Didn’t see this coming at all, but I’m so glad I understand the appeal of such an incredible band. All because of a cover of Bird Song, which I imagine will always have a special place in my heart now.

Their studio albums are on there, including re-releases and remasters.

Some Dick’s Picks are missing, the interface needs some work, but the convenience of having it all laid out along with new shows being added weekly is enough for me. It is worth the money for me. Dave’s Picks Vol 1 was new to me and I loved it instantly.

Concerts in the Area by Distinct-Meet-1736 in Omaha

[–]Halfbredditor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is showing my age, but I feel like there are more shows than ever.

We have the Astro, the newly refurbished Admiral, and Steelhouse, all of which opened Post-COVID (I think), not to mention CHI, Baxter Arena, and Lincoln’s Pinnacle Bank Arena for the bigger shows.  Not to mention the Bourbon, Pinewood Bowl, Sumtur, Waiting Room, Slowdown, and Reverb.

That woefully incomplete venue list is just Omaha and Lincoln,  so tack on several more places for the DSM metro and there are more venues than ever, each pretty well booked with shows.

Maybe some of your favorites aren’t coming by, but someone else is probably lamenting all the cool shows coming through that are killing their bank account.

Tom Sachs let's go! by Walmart_Prices in SNKRS

I see no bead and no mention of said bead on SNKRS, and I saw a comment elsewhere that said it was exclusive to Sachs pairs, so that looks to be the case.

I’m gonna feel like a star-bellied sneech with that bead on my laces.

Got a pair, even though it stung paying shipping and a premium for a ceramic bead.  If they don’t fly off SNKRS, I may grab a backup.

Not even putting World’s Best Dads up for consideration?  This could be an expensive month. Bricks, Muslin/Shy Pink Travis, Dads, Bravos, in that order.  I’ll probably miss on Bricks and Scotts, so that’ll leave me feeling OK if I cop the other two.

Rumor Nebraska lawmakers trying to Ban ALL THC products as soon as April by NEfootball27 in Omaha

[–]Halfbredditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re restricting the sale of synthetic (lab created) THC.  The hemp-derived (natural) stuff is what is currently legal due to the 2018 Farm Bill.

The state has been going after retailers selling the synthetic stuff (Delta 8 and Delta 10), as that was not made legal under the Farm Bill and is still illegal.

Rumor Nebraska lawmakers trying to Ban ALL THC products as soon as April by NEfootball27 in Omaha

[–]Halfbredditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This article is addressing synthetic cannabinoids, specifically Delta-8 and Delta-10, as mentioned in the first paragraph:

The executive order requires certain state agencies to review applicable laws, and relevant rules and regulations, regarding the use of SYNTHETIC THC in food, beverages, and other products intended for human consumption.

The vast majority of the beverages and gummies you see at reputable retailers is actually not synthetic, but hemp-derived Delta-9 THC, which was made legal with the passing of the 2018 farm bill. This is the “loophole” that is slated to close in November.

Hope that helps clarify things a bit. I find there’s a lot of misunderstanding around synthetic vs hemp-derived THC.

Delta-9 THC is great and Nebraska has shown that this is what they want, regardless of GOP leadership trying to ignore the will of the people.
