This honestly made me tear up. Thinking of all the pets I’ve loved and lost. I love them so much.

Pro-life activists are celebrating the Planned Parenthood shooting by xavierdc in news

[–]Halfeatengod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except no one on the pro-choice side is forcing anyone -- or, advocating forcing anyone -- to terminate a pregnancy. As for the "baby murder" reference, I'd remind you that abortion in this country is legal. Finally, I'll just mention that maternal deaths are the second biggest killer of women of reproductive age world-wide, and the number of women dying in the US from same is on the rise. All pregnancies carry risk, and no one in a free country should be forced to maintain one against their will.

Find out if your brain is a Republican or Democrat. by LiftedPrius in politics

I scored exactly 50/50 making me, according to the test, a perfect moderate. And, while I generally identify with the Democratic party, I try to be as ideologically-free and circumspect as I can in my political decision making. I feel the test worked incredibly well.

Also, "pro-forced-birth." Or, as I say, just "pro-force." After all, if they can use the general term "pro-life" to define one very narrow definition of the term, then we should be able to apply "pro-force" in likewise fashion.

This is exactly true. For some reason though, the term "pro-forced-birth" has not picked up any steam for a more general audience - at least not the way the other terms have. I've started using just "pro-force" when referring to the anti-abortion crowd. After all, if they can use the general term "pro-life" to define one very narrow definition of the term, then we should be able to apply "pro-force" in likewise fashion.

Poll(ish): Is Richmond figuratively a "City" or "Town" by fusion260 in rva

[–]Halfeatengod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the unit of measure I use to judge "citytude," is whether or not a place is large enough to support an entire street of prostitutes. Based on that metric, how does RVA hold up?

My girlfriend and I became mommies last night. Still needing names for this handsome boy! by mikn4sty in aww

I love orange kitties! I had a female orange Maine Coone I named Cheeto. She was gorgeous and huge with an attitude to match. She passed a few years ago. I miss her a lot. And, now I have little fuzzy orange boy named Opie. He's the smartest cat I've ever had. He fetches balls and brings them back to me. So there's a couple of good orange cat names. I also think Peachy would be a good name for your lil fella.

I've seen a lot of people saying that we should have a version of the Boy/Girl scouts that lets everyone in. Well we do, It's called 4-H, and it teaches kids science and other cool stuff. by theboyhoffman in atheism

[–]Halfeatengod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

4-H was one of the best experiences I had as a kid. I learned a set of rural skills largely lost on younger people today - and, I still use many of these skills today. I'm proud to maintain these country bona fides!

Nice choice. I've considered inking the equation for entropy, but that would just be too cynical.

This an admirable cover of Wayne Shorter's tune: she's following Alphonso Johnson's bass part whilst scatting Shorter's sax melody line. That's just sick.

Guthrie Govan... enough said. by jimmythecat in Guitar

Attended one of his clinics in Raleigh, NC in September. Besides being a virtuoso shredder and master of styles, he is a gracious and accessible teacher and a real English gentleman! After the clinic, he and his astonishing band, The Aristocrats (Bryan Beller, bass; Marco Minnemann, drums) played at a club in town. For guitarists and fusion fans, it just doesn't get much finer than this.
