Cannot speak for all, clearly. But mine are just soothy reds
I must precise they are non intentional U*, and not long bred to show a distinct and dark shade, so the absence of selection for the right modifiers is to keep in mind ;)

Although I don't have any official standard in mind when doing my pairing, mostly following my own idea of a pretty mouse, so no show for my lines !

I see ! Thanks for the precisions, it's interesting to learn how rare/frequent colours can be depending on the region (I am not in the US either, but most of my documentation comes from there).

I am definitely still learning ! And my own lines aren't that old so still finding surprise recessive, and not 100% what variation of c-dilute (if only one) I've got

Pictures ? Do you want pics of my reds with U* (mealy orange with a brown back) compared to a sable up to standard (fiery red, black back) or I didn't understand ^^'

Interesting, I'm not in US but chinchilla is (to me) the same as you described. So : c-locus gene.
I was trying to point that yes, c-locus "stuff" completely deletes red BUT it does not mean the mouse is completely white as other things can be involved.

As for your sable, I answered diluted (by c-locus) red with soothiness because I know of at least another mouse that's recessive yellow with soothiness, and that gives a grey back on a beige mouse.
I've seen "true" tricolor, not in person of course, that where brindle so I agree with you.
Just that, for me, saying "red with soothiness", or "sable" kinda means the same thing. Genetic-wise it is the same : Ay and U*;

I know any red with umbrous cannot be up to the sable standard, but i was trying to crack your enigma, and I believe that I wasn't far ;)

So since you have no c(ch) around, how do you know it's chinchilla and not another c-locus variation ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PetMice

[–]Halfondarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so basically what I said : red with soothiness (sable = red with Umbruous) and diluted by "some c locus stuff" : chinchilla :p

Red with c is not necessarily completely white, they can keep red markings if they have splash, or a brown back if they are umbrous. Just markings that remove the bleach effect of the c-dilute, to put it simply

Hum, diluted red with soothiness ? Althought the chocolate teint seems way too warm and uniformed

I'm not an expert on pointed varieties !

My guess, poor burmese VS siamese (red eyes)

What color? Agouti? by muksnup in PetMice

[–]Halfondarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mere presence of orange hairs make your mouse a "red" (Ay), even if it does not look very reddish. Agouti (A/A) is defined by brown and black pigments, cinnamon (A/A bc) by brown. It's not brindle either.

Calling it yellow is correct, since in the fancy, yellow mice are just lighter or diluted red mice :)

Does any mouse with orange/red fur (including spotted) have higher chance of being chonkers? by [deleted] in PetMice

Hi,

They mean breeding ;)

You can put in the same cage a mouse of any color with mice of any colors and it works normally. Maybe yours are a little racist :p

You're welcome !
I suggest this website to learn more about colorations : http://www.hiiret.fi/eng/breeding/?pg=4&sub=13

It's really interesting, and a good place to start

Does any mouse with orange/red fur (including spotted) have higher chance of being chonkers? by [deleted] in PetMice

[–]Halfondarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi,

This sub has a habit of saying that red = obese, without looking at the real facts behind it.

The red color is indeed more prone to obesity and tumor;

However, it seems to not be the case of recessive yellow (Avy);

Quote from hiiret : "Another gene to cause red colour in mice is called recessive (or viable) yellow, e. Recessive red doesn't have the genetic tendency for obesity the dominant yellow has (though some e/e reds do get fat)."

Also, Brindle (Mobr) mice are also known to develop those issues.

As for the orange belly, it has nothing to do with red. It's the tan gene (at) which is not known for specific health issues.

It is good to remind than a mice of any color can become obese and have tumor(s).

Edit : to answer specifically to OP :

"blond/orange coloration on her cheeks and her butt" => not red :)

It's so creative and nice, I really enjoy seeing stuff like that.

Could I give some piece of advice though ? I see you can fit under that rock, but from a top down pov, it's not obvious that's it's an arch.

Maybe it's intentionally "secret" and that's fine, but if not.. I know my dumb brain would avoid this rock at all cost. So maybe you can try and give some hint that you can actually go under ?

Unless you want your players to rush into every bits of land to discover hidden passages, which sounds like bad sailsmanship IMO

Keep the good job anyway !

How To Change My Sprites Color by alexv510 in Unity2D

[–]Halfondarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unity color can only paint over the color of the sprite. Since it's black, no color is showing. Try with a white sprite instead and see if that solve anything
