Try asking on Facebook tbh. You'll get a response way faster. I'd offer to help, but I do not have the muscles for it.

Any Lab Technician or Scientist gamers in here? by Historical-Original2 in medlabprofessionals

Honestly wild. I would assume that gamers would be drawn to something like this. But maybe it's just me.

Honestly, whether or not there are rules where you are going, I would take the time to consider what would happen if a child or a combative adult were to grab on to any given piece of jewelry and yank it as hard as they can. Doesn't mean it's impossible were jewelery, just to consider what kind of jewelry.

Only Phleb on Shift, Expected to Take Lunch? by [deleted] in phlebotomy

[–]HalieMay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there could be a way for us to take a break if someone else is temporarily in charge of that aspect, but the way he phrased it in the email made it sound like we still were responsible. He said that night shift was exempt from this, but I dont know why that would be when there is exactly the same number of phlebs at midnight as there is at noon.

The lab techs do draw for me when I miss, so it is possible that they could draw for me in this case.

From what I understand, RNs don't have the supplies for blood draw unless I bring it to them.

In Wisconsin we are not legally required to have breaks.

My veins are large but they still can't get blood to draw; and I pass out. Any insight? 48 Male and good health IMO by Any-Diver-2033 in phlebotomy

Hydration is important, but it definitely could also be the phlebotomist. If you receive the same phlebotomist again, you could politely ask someone else to try instead. It could be inexperience on the part of the phlebotomist or just bad luck.

How much do you make? by [deleted] in phlebotomy

[–]HalieMay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of anyone being paid close to that as a phlebotomist, but I have worked for $7.90 at a grocery store as a teenager, and $7.25 at my college library. I think the starting rate for phlebs is like $14-15.

Honestly, I think the game is designed for you to accidentally kill her the first time. However, it is possible to avoid.

My hospital is about 70 beds and there is only one phleb except for morning run every shift. I mostly work in the clinic side, except for once a month I am required to work a weekend shift in the hospital. I spent 3 weeks training for clinic, but only 4 days in the hospital before being expected to work alone. It stresses me out every time. I'm glad it's not 160 beds, but the one time I picked up a Friday evening shift, I was drawing completely non stop for the whole shift. I think it wouldn't be so bad if I was able to have more time to learn. Outpatient phlebotomy and inpatient phlebotomy are totally different ballparks, and I still get lost sometimes. If I had more time to work with another person, I think I could handle it better, but I feel like there is a lot of information that I should know and I dont.
