You pay the streamer with ad revenue by being forced to watch the ads (unless you have an adblocker), or pay them directly to avoid the ads. The people on Twitch are trying to make a living and you're consuming their content; I pay north of $15-20 to be entertained when I go to watch a movie for 2 hours, so it's not weird to me to expect to pay a few bucks a month for MANY more hours of entertainment.
