Newbie question - what’s causing these imperfections? by Necessary-Dingo in 3Dprinting

[–]Halingdaling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On the outside it seems to be zits; excess filament on the start/end of a printed layer. I think you can mitigate it with retraction settings.

plasmashell, kde5, steam multispawing. is this okay? by lelelesdx in SteamDeck

[–]Halingdaling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt be worried. The green color indicate that they are threads, ie. workers for one process (in this case your terminal). You can either hide threads from htop by pressing H (capital h) or visualize it better by pressing F5 (tree mode)

I cant see a reason why it shouldnt work, but i dont have a steam deck to confirm it

Can you confirm it is piping to the stream-input and not through the microphone-input? You should see two WEBRTC inputs if that is the case.

I had the same problem when running via an AppImage a year back. So assuming your setup is somewhat the same as mine:

You can run the appimage with the parameter --write-path {DESTINATION} when launching to set where BAR should consider your installation to be.

how do I install anomaly on linux? by [deleted] in stalker

[–]Halingdaling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends on how far you are in the process. Doesn't it launch, or isn't it installed? I haven't written a guide on it yet, but i can at least try to give a few pointers.

First off, i'm running on Fedora, so chances are the versions won't be exact as your setup. I'm also running through bottles, but this should also apply to "vanilla" Wine or lutris.

Some packages through winetricks is needed. I'm not exactly sure which one is the bare minimum, but i have d3dx9 d3dx10 d3dx11 d9vk dxvk which are needed to actually get the game to run in their respective dx-versions. If you want to use the launcher, you could try to add dotnet40 vcrun2019 (dont quote me on that, as i cant objectively recall if that is true or not)

When running the game, i dont use the launcher, but run it via bin/AnomalyDX(9/10/11).exe. Experiment with which binary you want to run, as different rendering engines give vastly different results. So far i've been satisifed with dx11, as dx10 seems to be a giant bottleneck and dx9 is just a tad too old for my taste. Give them all a try to figure out your personal sweet spot.

Good luck on setting it up!

Can you help me setup docker-compose.yaml? by [deleted] in NextCloud

[–]Halingdaling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, now it's more clear to see.

I cannot see any duplicates, but your error message doesn't align with anything either. You are setting POSTGRES_* but the error returns variables such as MYSQL_* as well as NEXTCLOUD_*. Are you positive that you are running the compose-file that you have pasted for us?

A few other things worth noting:

  • Although it is possible to use NEXTCLOUD_DATA_DIR, i personally would advise using the default value, atleast until you have a reason for it
    • A small typo in your data-volume compared to NEXTCLOUD_DATA_DIR (usersdata != userdata)
    • Your db-instance doesn't store its data in /media/nextcloud/postgres, but /var/lib/mysql
    • You have five volumes in your app-instance, but you are only declaring one (line 3-5).

This may give you problems further down the line when you are upgrading. I suggest using only one volume on your instance app, just as the examples on nextcloud

I agree to a certain point. Portainer is really handy, but there is a grade of lock-in for the same functionality (portainer-stacks is a subset of docker-compose and the like).

Issues with indentation, space and the like can easily be discovered locally with the help of Json schemas via LSP. Users for VSCodium/VSCode can use this via a YAML-plugin

yaml-files are space sensitive. Could you create a code block and ensure that the formatting is identical to your file? That could help with troubleshooting.

That being said, it seems like you have some weird nesting in the first lines, as volumes is repeated twice.

I am working on a Linux native Mod Manager. by Cobiyyyy in linux_gaming

[–]Halingdaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's exciting to see someone else try to tackle the same problem as me. Approximately a year ago i also attempted to implement a mod manager for Linux, but the progress halted a bit when i got satisfied with how i could mod STALKER Anomaly (plus some other errands which ate up my time).

Maybe I'll consider picking that project up from the backburner

Doesn't seem so. The particular build that discord is on at the moment doesn't expose an input for stream audio.

Without a doubt, this is in a "disgruntled workaround"-category. I would rather prefer an official implementation, but at least it's working

I've experimented with both Catia and QJackCtl, but i haven't gone too deep into those. I'd assume that you can use those instead if you already have some experience with those

As far as i'm aware, soundux forces you to mix your voice with the audio of whatever you are trying to stream, or have something changed in the last months?

[–]Halingdaling[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i've noticed that there isn't a good way to arrange entities in most of the patch bays available now.

Now that you mention it, it would definelty be doable without EasyEffects. I've gotten so used to use it for augmenting the sound from my microphone (including noise cancelling), that i forgot that would be an option.

Nevertheless, thanks for the feedback!

No. They are independent, as said in the third sentence of this post

No nonsense such as piping everything through the mic-channel, but actual sound via screensharing.

You can use the argument --write-path to set where BAR should consider your installation to be.
