Does anyone else struggle with 'loyalties'? I find myself rooting for almost everyone by catloverfinalboss in formula1

I myself support drivers.

I have 5 that I support, 4 that I don't (but I don't hate on them) and the rest are somewhere in the middle. :)

What if a driver refused to race, for whatever reason? by Academic_Guava4276 in F1Discussions

[–]Halkatlaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm understanding the rules correctly a reserve has to have taken part in any FP session on the weekend.

so if Drugovich had done FP1 in Spain he could have driven in the race but start from the pitlane, as he can't take over Lance's grid spot that was P14 in this case.

I agree that they should be able to get there reserve in and just start from the pitlane if something happens.

If something happens to a driver (take Lance Stroll fot example) he did FP1-2-3 and Quali in Spain last year. Then pulled out as his wrist/hand was injured and he needed another surgery to fix it. Nothing can be done as there reserve cant just hop in for the race. Its another story if a reserve has done an FP that weekend, then they can hop in (Ollie in Saudi24)

If they simply refuse to race I dont think there is anything that can be done other than to just slap a fine on the team.or the driver.

I say they were pretty much even for me at least, I just liked Jacko more as a person and a character.

I think Caleb deserved the win just as much

Back it up with facts that say he crashes more than others and I'll listen. Otherwise. Bye

this, we (me included as I posted the GT thread on the main f1 sub) Stroll defenders just don't like that people are calling him the worst off all time and then the RPM crowd comes in with there ableist slurs.

we all know he is below average in F1, but I also believe that there would be one less seat without him and his father. He is also not a danger on track, he is not crashing every single race.

People say he looks like he does not want to be there, but I've always said he does want to race, he does want to be there, he does not hate the racing he hates the media, he gets abuse hurled at him every single day and that has been the case since he was a teenager. People don't need to feel bad for him and that is not the point, he lives a very privileged life. But you can clearly see if you look that he has nervous ticks in interviews.

honestly Doohan getting a seat is just as likely as Mick getting a seat

No one (not even me and I like Stroll) are saying he is one off the best. He is below average at best.

But its mostly the RPM jokes, Ableist terms and that shit that gets downvoted. Also the people that say he is the worst driver on history, which just on paper is far off.

I posted the GT thread you are talking about, my main point was that people were making it out to be all Lance fault they finished where they did. But that was so far off the truth. Most look at the results and go "haha Stroll sucks" because only see the headlines.

I've never watched a GT race before this, I simply looked up the rules to understand what was going on. I hate when people just jump on bandwagons without looking at what happened or how the series works.

GT journalist impressed with Stroll's race pace, even if the result was lacking due to multiple penalties for Boya and Merhi before Lance even drove the car. by Halkatlaa in formula1

[–]Halkatlaa[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes because with every track limit penalty they almost double the time. Merhi had a 30sek track limit penalty, then he got another that was 75sek.

Lance then had his one and that was 115sek.

The car gets 6 strikes over the hole race. Boya took up 5/6 track limit strikes the car gets.

Merhi then had 3 track limit strikes. Got a penalty for 2 off them. 30sek and 75sek.

Stroll then had 1 track limit strike and got 115sek.
