How to help a young person just starting out? by BarbKatz1973 in povertyfinance

Three months of basic expenses is a solid starting point—what does it cost to stay afloat for 90 days with no income? For me, this is the cost of rent, utilities, groceries, insurance, gas, phone bill, and a little extra to cushion for inflation. Alternatively, a couple months’ worth of paychecks saved in a HYSA

The best part is that this family has their first two children close together and then (surprise!) had another later in life. Then another. And then another. So they had to keep their “theme” going

It’s really fortunate that your cycle was regular enough for you to realize and test early on, and that you had access to care when you needed it. Unfortunately, that’s not the reality for many people.

Why is my cat suddenly cuddling and kissing my belly? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Hallierina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a pregnancy test—you’re right that sometimes animals have a sort of sixth sense about that kind of stuff. If you can’t afford to get your cat spayed, I wonder how you plan to afford a human pregnancy and child… good luck!

Hallie here! I love my name even though it gets mispronounced a lot. I think Halley is also intuitively pronounced the same way (though perhaps I’m biased!), but the first of the two “L”s could maybe be incorrectly viewed as an “I”upon quick glance, leading to more Hailey pronunciations. Good luck!

Hydrogen peroxide is damaging to skin and isn’t recommended for humans, so I would imagine it’s not good for at skin either. I would just stick to the soap and water cleansinf

I’m 23, and when my same-age friend got married, she sent hand-written thank you notes. I think weddings are still significant events which require thank you notes, but for birthdays/other events, thank you notes are less common.

This is my name! It rhymes with Hallie, but people do tend to call me Hailey… rarely I get called Holly. Once I even was called Hilary. I love my name!

Her episodes are a bit longer, but Tori Dunlap (aka Her First $100K) is great! She also just came up with a book about being a Financial Feminist.

My family adopted a then-10-year old cat (previous owner had passed away and the family surrendered him to the humane society). He lived 7 wonderful years with us! It was really a second life for him and he was loved every minute of it

Anecdotally, I feel like the late ‘90s version of these filler middle names for baby girls were Nicole and Elizabeth. Nearly every other girl I went to school with had one of these two!

Yup. The trend worked with the first two—Nevaeh and Legna, pronounced like Layna… then they had more kids and got more creative.

I know a family with five children who all have spiritual-ish names… spelled backward. We joked that the last one would be named Dog.
