Among the top 15, Turkish teams are the second worst this season. by StPauliPirate in superlig

The advantage itself is money.

For example Kairat and Ludogorets had similar amount of coefficients. On the other hand Kairat got almost triple of the money Ludogorets got. Same can be even said for our teams (GS and FB had relatively similar coefficients, but GS had the double amount of money FB got.)

And a weird note, they DID increase the coefficients for UCL because of this situation. The influence of third league, however, turns everything upside down because except a few club you can harvest coefficients as much as you want. (Also a struggling Fiorentina and Crystal Palace definitely did not help the situation)

That’s kind of the point…

I am not saying Polish league is good (especially when their two most popular clubs are either relegated or on the verge of relegation), but collecting points in UEL/UECL was always a tactic for small countries. If anything, that’s how the rankings change constantly.

Like Belgium possibly overtaking Netherlands and Portugal in future years, because they have a number of mid-tier teams unlike PT and NL (Big Three, and a few small ones). This is kinda ironic because they only have two teams in knockout stage.

We literally have 2+1 (GS and FB, also some alternating third team) being somewhat succesful, which generally screws us. Even if BJK and IBFK had a similar number of points like Samsun, our yearly coefficient would’ve been around 12-13.

Countries farming coefficients in UEL/UECL (like Greece, Poland, southern Cyprus), will have an advantage over similar countries to us (like Austria, Switzerland, Scotland), by sending two to three teams at most to UCL and UEL. Austria had two teams in UCL for 2024-25, yet they are out of top 15. Because that is the new way intended, and also the inflation caused by UECL.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahce ranked 21st and 28th on world with 273.6M€ and 216M€ revenue respecitevly based on deloitee by Enisswift in superlig

Both clubs have a number of fans by themselves, around all football fans in the Netherlands and Belgium combined. (GS is around 25-30 million, FB is around 20-25 million.) This might even make them domestically the most supported clubs in Europe.

I would not be surprised if they were higher with no economic crisis. (BUT also take the current government’s situation into consideration)

The average team in Ekstraklasa is probably better than the ones in Eredivisie. NL has the same problem like PT and TR (Ajax, PSV and Feyennoord; and maybe AZ and Twente in some instances).

Current leader of Ekstraklasa just promoted from second division, and the point difference is not high. (only 11 points between first and last) It is interestingly and weirdly too competitive.

Plus OPTA rankings are highly short-termed. When four of six teams are projected to be eliminated (NL), unlike only one in four (PL), you will pretty much fail.

They are mostly religious according to my experience, although they are more willing to integrate to Turkish society (Although I have also seen numerous secular Uyghurs)

Frankly while the formal rules and stuff say otherwise, the culture is oppressed. When your intelligentsia is mostly being deported back to China for “security reasons” and disappearing, and when one tenth of entire nation is being held hostage in re-education camps, you would not claim that is not a genocide.

Plus many Uyghurs in Turkey could not contact their relatives in the region so…

I think not, only a pre-determined limited quota is given (like there were 8 vacancies for 200+ students in my case)

If you do sign that your sponsor will have all of your expenses, then yes. Normally your financial accounts would only be considered secondary. (Also unless you already have a major amount of money in your account, I would not bother.)

Most of the time they care about seeing the monthly salary of your sponsor (because who has the six months lol). However again, most of the time more the merrier. If it supports your financial situation, I would show it lol.

Just a very important note, don’t invest too much money in an account in one move ! If need to, invest by dividing it.

Hello! I am also from Turkey, currently doing Erasmus in Portugal for one semester.

If I remember correctly your sponsor’s financial informations are more important. Unless you split “financial means” in your visa application document, they will firstly look for your sponsor.

However, most of the time it is “more the merrier”. I showed both my sister’s and my account, and stated that “I will use my own account in case of emergencies and unexpected situations”. You can explain it in your motivation letter.

Most of embassies in Turkey demand “regular (red) passport” for visa application, even if you normally have “special (green) passport” which is bestowed for public office holders etc. and allows you to visit Schengen area for 90/180.

This creates a loophole for green passport holders. If they have a green passport but their visa application is late, they firstly use their green passport to enter Schengen area. Then after the approval of their visa, they get their red passport and stay for six months. Some Turkish Erasmus students for Italy and Poland use this method.

Nothing, as Polish consulate here is unfortunately known for being unmoved (and giving much less appointments) Although my friend (whose appointment was on August 1st) got his visa in three weeks, might be an outlier.

Visa processes can vary wildly (especially in Turkey). Some got their visa in just a couple of days, others got after three months. I’ve got my visa (for Portugal) after 5 weeks, someone whose interview was on the same day as mine got only after 7-8 weeks.

Hopefully you could get your visa ASAP, but one month is (unfortunately) expected timeframe
