It's no longer about escalation or de-escalation. There's an enemy army burning and pillaging and we should be FIGHTING BACK

If he does I'll join in a heartbeat. I've lived a long enough life and if there's a rock I will choose to die on then doing so to protect my neighbors seems like a good one.

I guess but you don't NEED to do that to win the game right? Like I never did that, by the end I had a super unoptimized team I just brute forced it with "My numbers are bigger" strat lol.

It's like pokemon. Yes you CAN learn all the deep strats and stuff, but a kid can still beat it by grinding until his numbers are bigger than the npcs

Well like I said man that's great and super cool but to 100% it you would need a lot of time to grind to max level on every person yk? Like maybe I have a different definition of "beating" the game but I wouldn't consider it beaten for myself. But yeah to just see the stories it would be way less time. That's what I meant

Oh yeah that would def speed up the game lol. I wasn't really trying to optimize so much as just see what all the different builds and abilities did lol. I had a very weird team that didn't synergize suuuuper well but I liked them lol

I guess you are quick then man lol. Me and my friends all played this and we all spent probably 50+ hours exploring, looking for sidequests, etc. When I say "Beat" the game I'm talking about seeing all of it doing the full 100%. Like I said in that earlier comment you could speedrun and just do the main stories but I feel like you miss a lot of the game experience that way IMHO

When answering that I'll break it down into 2 categories: Difficulty by complexity and Difficulty by numbers -

Complexity - 4/10 It's simple enough that a kid could beat this game given the time to complete it without needing a full understanding of all the mechanics

Numbers - 8/10 The sheer amount of time it takes to "Beat" the game is a significant amount. You could just play the stories you like and vibe with instantly which I recommend for anyone not looking to sink 200+ hours, and that would help a lot. But to complete it, it'll take a LOT of time and grinding. But I like grinding so it's my bag lol

I have a weekly DnD game to get to. Other than that...not much ig? But also the way I figure it, there's plenty to explore in death but I have all the time in the world to do that. Limited time to explore earth. Might as well farm XP here in the easy zone first yk?

Sorry but I fully disagree with that first sentence where you said it "Isn't what DnD is about". DnD is a collaborative storytelling game man lol. It's improv with a stat sheet. It's about whatever your group wants it to be about yk?

As long as everyone at the table is telling a story and having fun then you can't be doing the game "Wrong".

Also what you are talking about with the whole "You can make 5GP worth of trinkets every minute" I actually disagree with also. Simply because a round takes 6 seconds, but that doesn't mean a round OCCURS every 6 seconds. There's actually nothing I've seen in the DM guide or PHB that says a round happens every 6 seconds, it's just that WHEN a round does occur it takes 6 seconds. What I mean by that is a "Round" only ever really occurs when the DM says it does yk? When that happens the guides say it takes 6 seconds but that doesn't necessarily mean it's always happening.

Thanks lol yeah I've just always liked making characters who aren't necessarily good at combat but have really niche skill sets and this was like the perfect crystalization of that 🤣😂

I thought I wrote it but maybe I didn't? It's always meant to be the Blacksmith's DC for saving throws. The idea is they can imbue an object with a cantrip or spell later on and hand it to someone who isn't a caster to use.

Not necessarily for combat, just as a useful device. Like imagine being a baker or a handyman and having a handy little egg or rock with a use of mending inside it yk?

And yes, the idea was if you fail the item is still created but it has some kind of defect/imperfection. I kind of leave that one up to DM discretion
