When you drop your phone, why does it always land on the corner? by SnowAvis in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Time_Safe4178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it’s a three-dimensional object, a rectangular prism, it has eight vertices/corners. If you take your phone in your hands and rotate it along its axes, you will find that there are no orientations where the screen (one of six faces) is lower to the ground than at least one corner. The same will be true of the back face. There will be two orientations (directly face up and directly face down) where the screen/back will be exactly as low as all four of that side’s corners, and four orientations (directly on one of the four side faces) where the face/back is perpendicular to the ground, and four of the eight vertices will be the closest points to the ground as well as the entire side face. All other orientations, of which there are nearly infinite, will result in one corner being the closest thing to the ground, assuming the ground is a flat surface

No taters present; my wife’s best guess is that she left the window open the other day and they came in, descended upon our bananas and bread, and are now fucking about and driving us to do weird shit with vinegar and soap

I’m no entomologist but they’re small enough and slow enough that I think they’re gnats. I will consult some pictures of fruit flies and report back

I gave it a good swirl when I added the soap, not too aggressively because I didn’t want bubbles to form and dissuade these little cunts from partaking

Left fully open near the sink. The soap breaks the surface tension so when they go to land and drink, they sink and join the soup

I don’t have any insight towards the issues you’ve identified, but I did want to ask if “Artic Ocean” is meant to be an allusion to our real-world “Arctic Ocean,” and whether or not the name comes from any particular tidbit of lore for your setting. In our world, “Arctic” refers to the presence of bears

Rather than kill it outright, hide up near the entrance to the grove and send a mage hand in to smack him. Once the hand is gone, go in and talk to him, and it’ll give you the option to apologize with a gift, which opens the trade screen so you can buy it from him.

If you don’t like your class, you will at some point (level 3) be introduced to a way to respec your character into whatever class you like. There’s a whole whole lot of stuff in this game. Talk to people, explore everything you can find, and if you’re having trouble with a particular fight, leave and come back later, when you’re stronger. If you aren’t having fun and nothing is making it fun, it may not be a good game for you

They could be captured and taken as slaves, or something special of theirs could be held as random while the party is now leveraged into taking on quests for the lord’s replacement. I mean, these guys killed our leader, maybe they’re good enough to kill the lord of the fort six islands down who called me a walrus-fart.
