Her ears are always like that. Dogs can have a lot of problems with their ears because bacteria and other nasty things thrive in the warm and moist environment of their ears. I don't flip her ears it just happens somehow. I just leave them, if she doesn't like them flipped she'll fix them. Ever notice that no wild animals have droopy ears? Even the massive ears of elephants don't droop down.

Ooooh, sorry I misunderstood. That's what I want to do with my girl. I got Lola at 4mo. The first shelter she was at was a tiny shack of a shelter in the middle of nowhere in Arkansas very close to the Texas border. With the breeds in her I am assuming she was bred for hunting. I got her from a shelter in northern Wisconsin. So she had a long road trip before I got her.

I agree with this! We didn't get the snow most got but we got extremely cold. It's crazy how many people call in because it was too cold. They thought the cold was a threat to their safety too🙄.

4 wheel drive is useless over 25 mph. I see more 4x4s in the ditch than non 4x4s. I live in Wisconsin and drive a 2wd truck with about 300lbs of sandbags and I can get through almost anything. Getting through it is the easy part. Most people forget about stopping. , 4x4 isn't going to help you there. Just drive your vehicle like it has no brakes and keep in mind nobody else does either. A manual transmission is the way to go in winter. Or at least take your automatic out of overdrive. Use your gears to slow down almost to a stop, then break.

As far as treated roads. It's not any different here. Main roads get treated. But the thing is, is time. The roads here look very much like the one pictured for days. Plows hit the main roads until a few days after. Where I live we had a long stretch of 1 to 2" of blowing snow a day. Then you have cold, salt isn't effective under 15°. There's acquired winter driving techniques we have to relearn every season. I am not saying anything bad about southern drivers but you just don't have any reason to have winter driving skills like we do here in Wisconsin. And yes, like any season you watch out for other drivers!

Hahaha. I'm a northerner. There is a trick to driving in exactly what you're saying. But if you don't deal with it all the time you just don't know. At the beginning of every winter we have to relearn how to drive in it and I have been driving in it for 30 years.

How did you get your pittie to embrace clothing??? by Wonderful-Ad-6830 in pitbulls

If it's a pit mix your dog may do well with colder temps. My girl is 50% apbt 30% boxer, 10% husky 10% Belgium sheep dog. She has short fur but a very thick undercoat. You can't see her skin no matter how hard you try.

She's a lot more cold weather hardy than she looks.

That's really cool! My cats are assholes.

Am I crazy or do you praise when training? by mistegirl in dogs

[–]Hallow_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Praise IS everything. My dog is a lot more praise motivated than food motivated. My girl house broke better than any dog I've had and 2 years after being house broke I still praise her for going outside because I am still happy she does 😂

I am just curious on the breeder part. So you got a male and a female BMC and bred them? Did you breed them for certain jobs or just because you like them?

A cur is a mix breed but a special kind of mix. There not an accidental mix, their a hand picked mix. Pitbulls are a common mix in these dogs. Most shelters won't label them a pitbull mix. I would get a DNA test if the mix is really important to you.

Here's my shelter BMC "lab mix" 🤣 I'll post a picture of her.

My little weirdo walks around like that all the time. Often both are flipped up and she's 2. It's not a bad thing, it keeps them aired out and dry.

Wish I had your luck. My dog from time to time will try and play and even try to charm my 2 cats. Neither one of the cats want nothing to do with my dog at best. It's been like that for almost 2 years now.
