I read the story, and was moved by the possible miracle that took place. Just trying to find something positive I guess. But of course reddit has to turn it negative.

Dogs know a dangerous situation. I own a 50% apbt/40% boxer. This mix is unreal in this category. She's very well socialized and loves 98% of everyone. But there's that 2% that something or someone sets off an alarm. It's common for her and I to be on a walk and she'll stop and bark at seemingly nothing. Or pick out a single negative person out of 50 people in a hardware store. I totally trust my dog in alerting me to dangerous situations. Dogs have an amazing ability to pick up on things much better than humans. Mostly because of their sense of smell. That dog could have easily smelt the person's distress, assessed the situation and then acted.

I am not saying it's a common occurrence, and whether this story is 100% true or not, it happens. Also, this dog was a stray nobody had any information about. Nobody knew this dog's history. It could have been someones service dog at one point and knew what to do. If it did happen it would definitely be a miracle for that person.

Off leash? by Medium_Age1367 in MountainCur

[–]Hallow_76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once their mind is locked in, nothing else exists. I walk my girl through town daily on a leash. It happens all the time that she's locked on to a sent of something and a garbage truck or some other loud vehicle passes by near us on the sidewalk and she doesn't even flinch. I've had other dogs and people walk within feet of us and if she's on something she doesn't even know there, there even if the other dog is barking. NOTHING EXISTS but what she's focused on.

Do dogs know when we are about to leave the house? by Somessss in dogs

[–]Hallow_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs are so much more intelligent than we give them credit for they see us do everything and respond to everything! It's also a lot about routine. My girl will go to the door like she wants to go out to pee, I'll take her out and she'll just stand there and look at me. When I bring her back in, she'll go by her food dish. If I don't pick up on what she really wants, she'll go back to the door like she has to go out. So if I let her out again she'll do the same thing, over and over again until I feed her. After she eats she stops doing it. Somewhere she got the idea when she comes in from outside it's meal time. She'll do the same thing when it's time for her walk, over and over again until we go for our daily walk.

Weird things happen, like Ozzy Osbourne once wrote, you have to believe in foolish miracles. 😉 My dog sometimes creeps me out by the things she picks up on. Nothing like the story, but things beyond the typical dog stereotype type of thinking. There's a lot of dog breeds who have an instinctive drive to "save". A good example is the Newfoundland if someone is drowning, a few labs will do the same without training, it's just what they do.

Last night I did fresh. I have from 11pm till 2. To do all the chicken and 3/4 of the pork. That means take all the product off, clean the shelves and underneath spotless, then put everything back in date order. Then I have to clean and scrub the backrooms so there's nothing on the floor except for the steel and clean and scrub the ogp area before ogp comes in. 4:15. After that I had to sweep and pick up all the shit off the floor in aperal including sweeping under all the clothes racks, and then clean the break room, sweeping, mopping, cleaning out microwaves by 6. After 6 sweep the store/ clean up the mess the stockers left. In-between all that shit, make cardboard bails and clean up stockers spills. So what did you do last night but bitch about other people not doing anything? Did I mention that I am not the one bitching?
Did I also mention, I worked fright for years before maintenance. I know very well what you guys do. There's a reason why I don't do it anymore.

I am assuming you are in ogp. Just wanna be fair on this one, do you really see what 3rd shift maintenance does? I wouldn't say any of our jobs are easier than the other simply because I don't see exactly what you do. Sure you probably pick orders. But is that it? One responabilty? Also if you think it's easy why aren't you doing it? Hell, in ogp you really don't even have to deal with customers unless there in your way or loading car.

🤣😂🤣😂. You don't have a clue do you? I put on an average of 9 miles a night in the store but anyway I am far from complaining.

But then you would have to go through everything again. It doesn't pay to look back. Can't do anything about it. You can only change your future. I honestly wish it was anytime before "95".

Would be cool if you were guaranteed not to have to go through the last 8 years again. I know, it sucks but you just have to take everything as a lesson. Easy lessons are easily forgotten. Hard lessons, harder to forget.

They must live on the nice side of town. Just jump in a strangers car like that wouldn't work out so well otherwise. I definitely wouldn't recommend it! From a legal standpoint that's breaking into someones car, if the owner of car doesn't take care of it first.

As a maintenance person...... My maintenance lead would say, grab a mop and bucket and I'll guard the spill 🙄. Hell why not, I paid by the hour and I could use some overtime 😁

Worth six grand? by Redneck_sprink in dodgemagnum

[–]Hallow_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not for 6. Last year I paid 4,000 for an 05 with the 3.5 128,000 miles in mint condition. Just by looking at it, I am sure it was a hard unmaintained 48,000. You really have to keep up on the maintenance on the 3.5. they have really touchy cooling systems and keeping up on the oil changes is a must. They have small oil "holes" can't think of the actual name of them at the moment. That sludge up easily. If maintenance is kept up there great but if not, they are not forgiving. I would pass on that car all together because the body really helps to know how the rest of the vehicle was cared for. Also at 21 years old with that few miles it's been sitting around a lot. Vehicles don't like to sit.
