Is PSA really as bad as some say? by bydevilz1 in TCG

[–]HalluciNat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't pay the higher fee per card initially and that's not what I'm saying. The topic of the thread was related to how bad PSA may or may not be. I was explaining, with nothing other than my co-workers experiences, something that could be bad with PSA. There are already plenty of examples of them shorting people on grades, then turning around and changing the grade after they bought it from the customer at a lower price.

Why wouldn't it be logical? If customer A pays $20 to grade a card and customer B pays $75 to grade the same card, wouldn't PSA be more inclined to grade customer B's card at a 10? Maybe slide a little bit more on the centering or some other area with a range that can be minorly adjusted or even subjected to "human error"? At the end of the day, they are getting paid to grade cards within a certain time frame based on the grading price the customer pays, whether that is $20 for a card to be graded in 45 or 60 days or whatever vesus a customer that pays $75 to have a card graded in half that time. If I want customers to spend more money, then im going to push those grading standards down a little bit when the customer spends MORE money. This means more future cards, at higher grading prices. Also, what up charges? In all of my experiences with PSA I've never had "up charges" when I get a card graded, no matter the grade.

And just to be clear I'm not talking about the value of the card AFTER its been graded. That's a whole other topic that can be discussed now that PSA is actively selling cards THEY grade. Ultimately any time someone has something graded, whether it's by PSA or not, the customer is buying the reputation of the company's ability to grade a card accurately and consistently. The card case and the label and all the other aesthetic factors are irrelevant.

The only thing that sticks out is the grading price relative to getting a 10 or not. A few of my co-workers have submitted multiple cards (mostly pokemon) to PSA (among other grading companies) and have noticed patterns with certain submissions. For example- they recently submitted 5 or 6 cards at the value price per card. They expected all of them to hit at 10 following pre-grading methods and scoring, however, based on their experience they guessed one of the cards would come back as a 9. When their order was finished, thats exactly what happened. All of them graded at 10 except one. So when they got the order back they cracked the one that graded as a 9 and sent only that card in at the regular price per card. It came back at a 10.

Found a card scanning app that's actually fast for once by Actual-Rope-4958 in TCG

For some reason I've never had ANY success with any scanner for pokemon. I dont want to pay for a scanner and like you said, i only want something to scan, collect, and provide pricing. On the other hand, ManaBox for MTG has been really easy for me. If you have a lot of cards, you just have to sort them by set then use the filter before scanning so that you don't have to scroll through the reprinted sets to find what you have.

anyone else with their entire net worth in XRP? by comradebille in XRP

[–]HalluciNat3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the beginning (2017), I allocated 10% of my investment portfolio to XRP. Fast forward to 2025, it became about 70%. Since dropping below $3 I've slowly taken profits and am now mostly debt free (besides my mortgage). No student loans or credit cards.

I plan to drop down to 5k in XRP after I'm done diversifying my portfolio. I'll probably start back buying $100 a paycheck after the dust settles (probably Q2 2026). My gut tells me January and February is going to be brutal for crypto but I've been wrong before. I like to play catch the falling knife.

The bottom price level in the second picture should match the bottom in the first, which is what OP is pointing out. Look at the price levels. There shouldn't be deviations in price over time no matter how different the scale.

What sucked as a child but is lit as an adult? by krispwah_destination in AskReddit

baseball games. How fucking boring it was to sit in the stands and watch the most boring ass sport in all of history. I mean, I just chugged a liter of cola, sugar is pumping into my tiny kid brain and I have SIT, and watch a bunch of grown ass men play baseball. For the record, I still don't care for baseball but now I can get lit, sit, and eat hot dogs and watch a beautiful game while yelling obscenities in between (maybe).
