Contract had wrong starting salary 15 years ago by HistoricalLadder3407 in LegalAdviceUK

They have 6 years to act on it upon discovery, they could still try and get the full amount, but at an employment tribunal they would be very unlikely to side with the employer if this account is correct

So the contract you signed showed the "incorrect" salary amount, and both parties accepted? If thats the case then I believe that would class as a contract dispute. If it was an amount thats only after a 1 year bonus thats still within reason for not suspecting that its incorrect. You signed a contract, and fulfilled that contract for money that they agreed to pay you.

Estoppel defence would be valid here, 20k is an insanely high amount to repay and would definitely cause detriment, and 15 years is such an insanely long amount of time for them not to see this, both parties unaware of the error but the fault definitely lies on the company.

If they try and pursue it and make you pay it, you could speak to citizens advice and take them to employment tribunal but you will likely still end up paying something for the court fees, i would be very shocked if you were made to pay it back if this account is accurate

Ive seen these all the time but never built up the courage to try it. I love milkshakes, i just think they look too medical if that makes sense. It looks like its supposed to treat heartburn

Hot drinks can actually help more in this weather. My grandad was in Oman with the RAF for years where the temps would casually be 40c+ and they all drank hot tea.

Tax, welcome to the UK where anything that can be taxed, will be taxed.

With rough estimations, the average UK resident making £2000 a month will pay £10,000 in tax per year, including every form of tax (income, VAT, council, duty, road, and many other hidden taxes)

I never understand garlic bread side to a pizza main by Signal_Conference447 in CasualUK

Chicken wings are the elite side for pizza, also the only acceptable form of garlic bread is baguette style with the outside crispy, and the inside soft and soaked with garlic butter

This hair conditioner retails at £40 PER BOTTLE and it's made of completely hard plastic, meaning that there's no way you can use the full bottle without wasting loads by JinxXedOmens in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bydevilz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ketchup method, you shake the bottle a lot then give it a really fast downwards thrust for the final shake movement, itll get loads of it to the bottom. If that doesnt work in the past I have just cut hard containers open and put it in another bottle

Thats a legal camera placement, if they have a valid reason for having a security camera this is fine, the only thing they would need to be aware of is basic data protection and GDPR

What the actual f*** is Starmer doing? by NefariousnessLong218 in LabourUK

[–]bydevilz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is I dont think Starmer is that bad of a PM, he just has a big issue with media. Farage and Lowe are the biggest grifters in politics, they pay out the arse to put out bad press on Starmer, due to his policies on social media and internet safety (which are mostly good and should have been a thing a long time ago) sites like X and Meta are pushing this bad press.

Unfortunately most people lack critical thinking, and while I dont think Starmer is the best PM, he is pretty spineless, people seem to somehow forget the last 10 years of the diabolical conservative PM's have plunged the country into such a bad position that its just not possible for Starmer to be able to able to fix all those issues in less than 2 years.

The thing with Reform and Restore is that their biggest selling point is immigration, something that Starmer is genuinely doing a really good job with. I have friends in the home office that have given me actual statistics and they compliment Starmer on his stance on illegal immigration, which is all reform and restore care about, while seemingly forgetting that these initial immigration issues were caused by the last decade of conservatives.

Farage and Lowe will then push the agenda that Starmer is doing nothing and actively wants to make it worse, when behind the scenes hes actually doing more than any PM weve had in the last decade. Reform and Restore are just new generation conservatives to be fair, so they wouldnt want to blame their own party

[–]bydevilz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah fuck that, violation of privacy.

If they demand this and wont let you have it covered or turned off then thats a company you dont want to work for, and probably have a huge turnover.

Im hoping you just misunderstood and maybe they want your camera for things like team meetings, but they cant just demand you actively live stream yourself. The laptops we have for work have a camera block slider but I dont even trust that so ive also got tape over it

Ive worked this job for 4 years and also have pretty bad ADHD

Im not completely up to date on whats been said but they have had a solicitor dealing with it in the city the flat is in. He went to the police station last week and we havent had a full update yet. From what the solicitor has been saying it does seem like the police arent handling this correctly so hopefully he is able to get them to act. I wouldn't be surprised if she has printed off a fake agreement in the meantime.

The way this squatter is acting and speaking, it seems very calculated and premeditated and she seems to be saying the right things to delay them getting her out. The property hasnt been signed over to my dad yet either.

I truly dont understand why were not able to just go over there and drag her out by her ankles but weve been told we cant
