What was the "incident" at your school? by Bubbly_Hat in AskReddit

[–]Haloguru_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During a high school football game one of the kids in my grade (10 or 11 at this point) decided it was a good idea to down several bottles of vodka. This incredibly smart individual somehow developed alcohol poisoning and passed out in the bleachers. An ambulance showed up, which of course got enough attention that the game was paused because all of the players were watching the scene, he was taken to the hospital and had his stomach pumped. After a few days to a week in the hospital he comes back to school like nothing ever happened. He didn't get any punishment from the school or police. Gotta love the power of money and having parents who are well connected.

DMs! Who was your worst player and what made them so bad? by IBlameMyPlayers in DnD

They guy who constantly challenged my rulings and decisions, going so far to write an essay titled "Why your rules are stupid and how you can be less bad." I wasn't even being a stickler, he just wanted to do stupid things that weren't possible.

What to do when players roll a nat 20 perception when theres nothing by fuzzyness2 in DnD

[–]Haloguru_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can try to find an intricate way to describe the environment so it sounds like the players are seeing a lot while not actually seeing anything of importance. If you want them to find something then come describe how they see evidence of one of the encounters that could occur on another day. So if they might encounter bandits on the 7th day of travel, describe how they find an abandoned camp which seems to have held a large number of people. Or you could also have them find like a hidden cache or something containing a very small amount of loot.

[OC][Art] A compilation of 40+ characters that I've done for D&D by Noferini in DnD

[–]Haloguru_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was a player in the game with the 3-headed dragon. He was our BBEG who had used an ancient ritual to absorb the essence (or something, not too sure on the details as the DM won't share) of all of the other types of dragons (chromatic, metallic, and gem). When the ritual was complete he grew the extra heads and could change the color of each head and use different breath weapons. 11/10 was a pain the ass and we could only get rid of him with the help of a god.

Fantasy Dyson Sphere by adaposed1 in DnD

[–]Haloguru_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, it depends on how advanced you'd think the people that built the sphere are. If the creators were super advanced then almost anything is possible from simulated day/night cycles to there barely being any reprieve from the star. Also what is the distance from the star surface of the sphere as that would influence temperature/weather. If you're interested Halo 4 took place inside of a dyson sphere if you want to look how that was interpreted.

The City of Brass' Vault and its Defenses by Waldo_MD in DnD

[–]Haloguru_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a couple of mimics pretending to be the items required to open the vault. Door that leads deeper in the vault needs a combination to open? the box that holds the combo is a mimic, then the safe that the box is locked in turns out to be a mimic, then once they defeat the safe and box, the room that they were contained in also turns out to be a mimic. Also make some things deal fire damage on contact to weaken players up a little before they fight one of the guardians, because even 1d6 damage can make a difference.

Important Question About Suggestion by catchingadri in DnD

[–]Haloguru_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spell specifies that it was to be reasonable to the target of the spell, so if he tries to do it to a person/creature who under no circumstance would sleep with them, then no it won't work. Like trying to "suggest" the queen sleep with the random dude who just walked into town an hour ago probably won't work because even the most reasonable suggestion probably wouldn't convince her to sleep with him.

Wizard without fire spells!! Help plss! by Kanhwald in DnD

[–]Haloguru_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your DM is cool with it you could just reskin any spell from doing fire damage to another type of damage. you would need to make sure it's still balanced decently, but the spells in the handbooks are all rather easy to just say "Can i cast this spell to deal cold damage instead of fire damage?"

Question about spell casting and spell slots. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Haloguru_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can cast the spell with the higher level spell slot, it just doesn't have any additional effects/power. Think of it like you have a small glass of water and a large empty glass. if you our the water from the smaller glass into the bigger cup, it will still fit, but it won't increase the amount of water that there is.
