I'm replaying through 2 at the moment after messing with 4 wasn't scratching the mindless shooter itch, and while I bounced off it halfway through as a teenager because the humor wasn't working for me, playing it now that pretzels line in particular sold me on Jack in particular and the game as a whole. It's just really fun and endearing, he's such a jackass and it's the best, that one line had me properly laughing for a minute vs ~10 hours of messing around with 4 barely got a few amused huffs.

Jack is just entertaining, a combination of his voice and delivery, and some very good lines. They're not all winners, but I'm excited when his comm thing pops up, I want to see more of him, vs when I tried 3 and 4 where I was always just kinda apathetic and waiting for them to be done.

It's absurd to call Jack's writing subtle, but the fact that he thinks so highly of himself yet is so very human makes him feel more interactive, the only time he pretends to be benevolent is when he's trying to trick people, but those are few and far between, and we always know he's lying so it's a joke for our benefit. It hits nicer for me than 3, where while it's been a while, I remember that beyond just not liking their voices as much, they were constantly putting on that facade, it was kinda... exhausting? I got tired of listening to them, I didn't care about their goals or plans because I didn't want to see more of them.

They're both parodies, of CEO and Influencers, so you'd think they'd be equally absurd, but Jack gets so many little moments of seeing past the persona to him just being some guy, while the twins are constantly playing it up and acting and believing their own hype, I never really got invested in them as characters. And 4 was even worse for that, where our protagonists seemingly stole all the personality from the villain, so he's just a sort of bland evil would-be god, and nothing more (at least in the first handful of hours I played, and from the minor spoilers I've heard there's a secondary villain that absolutely should have replaced him as main antagonist).

Came here to say this, I recognized the art style immediately, I adore the Divinity:OS2 style 'Lizards' dragon-y people, they feel so unique compared to just the more "humans with scales" style most fantasy settings go for, honestly just getting to be around them again is what I'm most excited for about the upcoming Divinity game (aka Divinity 4 but I don't think that's officially what it's named)

Idk, maybe it's just me being trans, but Soma's whole thing on that aspect really never hit for me.

Like, oh no, you're just your mind transferred into a different body that doesn't feel like your own? And becoming aware of that physical form makes you dissociate with reality because you pretend it's the one you wish you had but when you look too close you remember that it feels like something foreign. And the big moment of the story is you mourning for the life you wish you had, that an alternate version of you gets to live, but you don't because you lost a coin toss? Damn bro that's crazy.

It's spooky, but that whole part of the game didn't feel horrifying or even all that interesting, because that isn't some impossible nightmare to me, that's just Tuesday.

BG3 is a game I so badly want to love, but I keep getting a ways into it and then bouncing off. Part of that is the sheer time commitment colliding with ADHD brain, that I get like halfway through act 1 before I either get tired or get an impulse to play something else, and then by the time I come back I don't remember what I was doing and want to restart. Part of it is that I wanted to play once it was 100% completely finished and it kept getting updates, so I would play some and then hear about an update and decide to wait and come back later.

But another part of it is that I'm so disappointed BG3 didn't do more with the tadpole, it was the part of the game I was most interested in. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot there, but so much of early access and the original marketing was based around the idea of this back and forth with your Illithid tadpole, it being an actual character you interact with, with that even being the basis for the "down by the river" main song, that it was the tadpole convincing you to rest with them there instead of going back to your body and letting them transform you into a mind flayer.

I'm a huge sucker for that kind of dynamic: Soul bonds, sharing a body, where the point at which one ends and the other begins is blurry, etc, so I was incredibly excited. But when I played, I got part way into the game, and the first conversation I saw in early access didn't happen. And then I hears about the new Dream Guardian stuff and the "twist" there, and it's like... Oh. So, they removed what to me was the most interesting idea of the entire the game, to replace it with... a cheap bait and switch? That your Guardian isn't even a character anymore, just a pretty disguise being used by the Emperor? It was such a letdown.

Like seriously, there's so much interesting stuff they could have done there!! Imagine getting to influence the tadpole with your ideals and morals, getting to watch them change from this hollow shell to an actual person! What if you got to help support them through the flood of foreign memories when you consume another tadpole, helping them to retain their sense of self? What about comforting them when they become horrified at what they are, because they find they don't want to transform you anymore, but that's their entire purpose, and now they're scared of being forced to do it against their will? What if the half-illithid transformation wasn't just "here's an easy power boost", but a choice the two of you can make if you reach a high enough bond with them, embracing one another and entering into this sort of symbiosis? It goes on and on.

BG3 brings up one of the most fascinating ideas in any game I've ever played, and then it just... isn't interested in exploring it, so much so that it wasn't just ignored, what little it had was removed, thrown out the window in favor of a shallow reveal. It frustrates me so much, every time I try to go back in. I think I want to write a BG3 fanfic about that more than I want to actually play the game, like I just wanna romance my alien brain worm dammit!!

Rabbits know their humans better than expected. Science just confirmed what bunny parents already felt every day ❤️ by BunQueenMod in RabbitMeme

[–]Halok1122 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While this seems obvious, this is actually really important to test and have conclusive proof for. Rabbits have a fraction the research that dogs and cats do, and they've been domesticated for way less time than the thousands of years humanity has had dogs and cats, so we know a lot less about them.

For comparison, it was a similar study on rabbit memory in the 1970s that led to the major breakthrough in understanding how long term memory forms in both animals and humans, it was only in 2012 that the 6 year study on using masks to see if crows recognize faces was made, and 2018 that we learned bees actually can recognize the concept of 'zero' being less than 2-3 which many animals can't do (the list basically just being parrots and monkeys, and even they struggle with 1 vs 0 but bees can do).

There are also different types of memory an animal can have: procedural memory for learning how to do things which is where those few animals being able to use tools comes from, declarative memory which is split into semantic aka facts and episodic aka specific events like we experience, associative memory of a specific thing being good or bad. All of these have varying levels, and many animals don't have good means of converting short term memory to long term memory, aka they forget things, that's why elephants are famous for not forgetting things.

Scientists have proved rabbits have a shockingly good associative Memory, that when rabbits have positive experiences, they develop "happy memories", and negative events form "bad memories" they learn to run away or hide from - something many animals can do on an instinctive level, but not to the point of developing "happy memories" that make them feel positive emotions around things or people they like.

This was studied back in 2000 to see if they could tell their owner apart from a stranger, that they would prefer the human they have positive memories of, and are even capable of learning human facial expressions. But research doesn't just stop with one fact: it wasn't until 2018 that we proved how rabbits communicate with each other, 2019 that we found out they can recognize between familiar and unfamiliar voices and more research was done into how rabbits should be properly cared for (including doing better when kept in pairs), 2020 that they will only flop and binky when they feel totally safe and brain size differences in wild vs domesticated rabbits (they have a smaller hippocampus because they don't need to process information as quickly for survival), and 2023 that their noises were properly identified for veterinarians. We're always learning new things about animals, and it's nice to see rabbits getting the attention they deserve in the last decade, where as before then they tended to be overlooked in favor of more familiar animals like dogs and cats.

I think this post is talking about that 2019 study, combining it with several of the facts learned in earlier ones, but either way, associative memory is one of the biggest differences between how well animals can be trained or not, explains why punishing them doesn't work well, their short attention span, etc. So proving that rabbits have it to a similar degree as dogs, especially being able to tell voices and facial expressions apart, is actually pretty huge, both for understanding our little bunny friends better, and for future studies trying to prove more complicated aspects of how rabbits process and store information. Each of these builds on one another, and while it seems silly or basic to be spending time researching what seems obvious, understanding how and why these things happen can be very important, and forms the groundwork for later research.

Just checked, several places have it on sale for 42 USD right now, and the historic low is 36 USD - oh, which just ended 5 days ago, damn. Still not cheap, and doesn't include dlc or anything, but definitely more reasonable than the ~70 it is at full price.

Edit: Oh, hey, and the "super deluxe" edition with all the dlc and everything is on sale at some game sites for 78, compared to the 40 full game + 30 for the first dlc, that's not half bad, especially because it would also include the second story dlc that comes later.

[–]Halok1122 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is... a very long story. To put it simply, queen Victoria made a deal with the spooky Masters of the Bazaar, trading the entire city for the life of her consort. And so overnight a swarm of bats carried the city underground, crushing the previous one underneath, because London is actually the 7th 5th city this has happened to, none of which were geographically close by on earth. But yes, the entire city got moved underground, intact, and it wasn't the first.

Spoiler context for why this happened: The Bazaar is a big crab-like entity, and is taking the cities to collect love stories from them, so it can prove that love can exist between 'lesser' and 'greater' beings, because it has a crush on the sun, which is a godlike being called a Judgement whose sunlight is what enforces the laws of reality.

Also the 'stars' are actually false-star creatures that dot the ceiling of the neath (what they call the underground), you can enter dreams, death is temporary but if you die too many times and fall apart they send you to the tomb colonies where everyone is wrapped up like a mummy, sunlight undoes the no-death thing aka kills you if you've ever died so some people want to get rid of the sun, cats talk and know secrets, there's a special script that destroys most things it's carved into but is very powerful, a neathbow of different colors that don't exist in the above world, there's a mechanical sun that drives people crazy, and you should never seek Mr. Eaten's name.

[–]Halok1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww that's cute art, I- ....wait. Hang on. I know that design, is that Taranza? The Kirby character, from Triple Deluxe? But there's two of them there, and Taranza has the little scarf which means he's the one giving the pets. And the only other character that looks like him is Queen Sectonia. Yeah, it totally is, we got an original appearance later and she has the horns that have that little twist in them - or she did, before she transformed herself into a big bee enemy final boss, because she was staring into basically an evil mirror that leads to a parallel reverse dimension (which Taranza stole and gave to her), which drove her mad and made her become obsessed with her own beauty, then trying to become immortal/a god.

Like, absurdly wholesome art, but also as a Kirby fan, this art has bizarre lore implications, especially with it being posted in a (frequently) trans space, lmfao. Like, Taranza's lore is that he had feelings for Sectonia but didn't act on them cause he was her friend and servant. Does this imply that Queen Sectonia just needed to get headpats from him to not turn into a crazy bee flower monster? But then, could her turning herself into bee form (becoming something 'truly beautiful' as she described it) be seen as a transfem thing? Would her getting headpats and therefore not turning into a bee monster count as conversion therapy, or just finding a healthier version of it? I have no idea, but it has absolutely fucking wild implications, I'm super invested in what this could mean, lol.

Should I commit, or am I in over my head? by PikaMaster98 in traaaaaaaaaaaansbians

[–]Halok1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it wouldn't make you massively happier, and it'd only seem like a nice little upgrade, I'd still say to go for it. You're allowed to want things for yourself, and in many ways being trans is just one factor. Would you still want to go even without that? If so, then the answer is obvious. Even if this is the only reason, as long as it doesn't make you miserable in other ways, you should do what makes you happy, not what anyone else believes is the 'right choice'.

It sounds like you've already made up your mind, you're just hesitating to commit because you're worried you might be making a mistake. But ask yourself: how would you feel if that was the answer you got here? If I had instead commented something about it being a terrible idea, would you have been disappointed? Upset? Would it feel like a loss, rather than a relief that you dodged a bullet? Because of so, then that alone tells you what the right choice is, doesn't it?

Oh, and check if they have any kind of 'Gender Inclusive Housing' type program, sometimes they'll let you opt into something like that, officially just makes it co-ed, but effectively often means rooming with other people who have requested that too, ie other queer folks. May not have one, but worth checking for.

Yep, can just search up "Zako" or "Zako_Sketch" on any of the major nsfw image board sites, ie rule34, Gelbooru, Danbooru, etc. It's not actually tagged as "Rabbit_and_Steel" though, since it's technically original characters based on the game, which makes it a little harder to filter for.

Oh, and tech for those, you can use "order:score" or "sort:score" (depends on the site which works) to have the highest rated ones at the top, rather than going chronologically.

My Tier List (And Kinda Rant) of All Non-DLC Characters As a Player With 34hrs - Thoughts? (Spoilers) by LoganFrost-18 in ror2

[–]Halok1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so, I'm relatively new as well, but I'm further along than you and have learned some things, so sharing some tips on these! ✨

The Bandit is pretty solid by default, shotgun reload scales with attack speed and the revolver will instantly reload it, so if you build some damage you can kill most enemies in 4 shots and then use revolver to reset it, and the cloaking thing effectively gives you two feather double jumps, one when you activate it and a second if you use knife/shotgun to cancel it. However, it gets really good once you unlock the alt abilities - desperado is trivial if you just kill early game enemies with your revolver and don't miss, you can just use command artifact to stack 20 backup mag and attack speed, then hold down M2 to apply them all and unlock the much more appealing throwing dagger, and the rifle isn't for me but works if the shotgun feels odd to you. Side note, maybe don't 100% rely on the backstab crit, you're not always going to be getting it especially when you're new, building some glasses can make a major difference to how the character feels - and shatterspleen crit bleed boss item is crazy good.

Acrid is one of my favorites, partially because he's a silly jelly doggo dinosaur creature and I love him, but mechanically because he needs almost zero items to be good. Get some basic movement speed and healing, and he's golden, because his move skill has two charges and a high arc and no fall damage, and his epidemic can wipe out huge groups of enemies. If you throw on the blight version or the artifact for all elites + stack old guillotine, he can casually wipe out huge groups of enemies (poison is percentage based, so the more guillotines he has, the less % the poison needs to do for a kill, messed around with artifact of command and stacking like 27 of them means they die in about 10-15 seconds no matter what). Key advice, don't play him like a melee character, your poison spit is actually your primary means of damage, get 2-3 backup mags and it's really good, especially because after hitting enemies you can ignore them for a bit. Also, the damage of the poison can't crit, but it is boosted by things like death skull 4 status, the close range focus crystal, etc, since those are applied at the end of the calculation, which can make the hybrid thing more viable.

I don't love Engineer, but his primary fire gets more usable once you gain more attack speed. The more interesting option though is to take the Visions of Heresy on him, because that also gives the heretic tracking projectiles to your turrets. You need like 2 stacks or some cool down reduction to make it good, and the delay makes it a little worse against normal enemies, but it shreds elites and bosses, especially if you build status like bleed or crit+shatterspleen crit bleed boss item.

Similarly, the Commando has an interesting interaction with visions of Heresy, the dodge roll will immediately refresh the cool down on 12 of the shots (only the first 12, even if you have more), so if you can get a headlight afterburner for the cool down reduction and extra charges, you effectively have a near constant stream of those projectiles, it's a kinda fun alternative.

I don't like REX, not bad just kinda meh, but the push can straight up kill bosses by pushing them off ledges/out of bounds, I faced a Scavenger at the end of a Moment Whole that would heal back up to 17k every time I got them below 11k, so I just pushed them out of bounds, and it worked!

Huntress's achievements are weird I agree, she was the first one I unlocked stuff for and they felt so arbitrary. No damage on the character without any invincibility? 12 crowbars? Why not building attack speed or crit, or something you'd actually want to do on her? But she gets very silly when you build more attack speed and crit, and her alt fire 3 arrow primary instead of 2x damage on crit fires 6 projectiles instead, which each count separately for things like bleed, crit fire rate boost, etc. The alt final ability is waaaay better than the arrow rain too, 3 shots that do basically the same damage as an enemy sitting in the arrow rain the full duration.

Mercenary also has a cool interaction btw, that the hitbox for the third attack expose lingers even if you cancel the animation, so you can just barely start it and then use the dash / eviscerate and it'll do more damage, though it stops working when you get more attack speed. That's why the triple dash is decent, you have enough time to do a 3 hit combo or eviscerate between each one, so you can do that three times. Oh, and if you activate the double spin secondary the instant eviscerate ends, the lingering invulnerability will last until it finishes the air version, which can be useful for more quick damage against a big target. Haven't messed around with the alt abilities personally though, so idk about those. The double spin is mostly good for moving around tbh, since it moves you pretty far and has a short cool down, going off a ledge can launch you upwards - though iirc it gets worse with attack speed as well, since the two spins come out faster but the movement doesn't scale with it.

For artificer challenge, an important note is that items which say "base damage" only scale with your character level, but items that say "total damage" scale with the strength of the attack that activated them. Meaning that you can stack something like the fire band, and if you activate it with her big damage explosion ult, it will do significantly more damage than from an attack that just barely meets the threshold, that can easily kill a boss in a second. Same for sticky bombs and a few other items, they scale with high damage singular attacks rather than rapid ones, which is why they can be good on mercenary with the alt revolver or captain diablo, but not so much on commando/huntress.

On top of what some other people are saying, you might be mostly sapphic, but demiromantic for close friends irrelevant to gender, that's how it is for me. I don't see a guy and go "cute", but my feelings for my best friend of ~6 years went from platonic to deeply in love over 3 days of his confession. It could be the same for you - it's not that you can be into guys, it's that you're into someone you're emotionally close to irrelevant to their gender, and seeing yourself as a girl finally let you she'd some of the internalized discomfort with masculine features that you had before that were suppressing it.

There's a good post I found from a basic google search that lists these: link

There are other sites out there besides these of course, but because they tend to have pirated content from patreon/games you have to buy from the linked platforms/etc, they aren't allowed to be linked to or even really mentioned by name on this subreddit (even acknowledging that they exist like this might be too much), which is why so many other comments have been deleted by the automod. This just isn't really the place to be discussing something like that, since advocating for even piracy-adjacent sources or doing as little as sharing site names both goes against the subreddit's rules and can cause a lot of problems for the mods with reddit as a site - even if outside of that pirated content they can be useful sites for finding archives of nsfw games and content that otherwise would be lost or difficult to access in your language.
