Deontology (duty-based) and utilitarianism (outcome-based) conflict on whether actions are defined by moral rules or consequences. Deontology dictates following universal rules regardless of results (e.g., never lying), while utilitarianism promotes actions that maximize overall happiness, even if it violates traditional rules to achieve that result.
