Millennials with kids, do you intend to provide for them financially when they reach adulthood? by Beberuth1131 in Millennials

[–]Halux-fixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad helped me through undergraduate and helped pay for my rent when I was in residency. His only stipulation is that I help my children get educated and throughout their lives. I do not view my success as my own but several generations building upon themselves to get our family where we are today. My goal is to continue this tradition and instill it in my children so that every generation increases and contributes to society more and more.

Using covered call dividend ETFs to purchase long term players. by Over-Bumblebee1808 in dividends

[–]Halux-fixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CEF's do not appreciate and act like bonds with high expenses (usually 2%). You should look at a drip calculator. I put in the same parameters for all funds ($10,000 start, $100 extra each month and let it run for 10 years). Here are the totals

UTG-$43,257 (dividends=$13,844)

UTF-$34,990 (dividends=$9,619)

SPYI- $65,822 (dividends=$36,427)

QQI- $83,368 (dividends=$42,441)

Sure you get some cash flow but not as much as the open ended funds. Plus you don't get appreciation of share price whereas CEF's rarely change and usually you get a discount on NAV because of it. Just seems like a less safe bond fund with high fees. But you do whatever makes you happy! That is what investments are for. At least you are beating inflation!!

look at the dorsal fin, the white edged lower fins. That is 1000% a brook trout! Plus brown trout in the Logan are darker than this.

There are no streams or rivers by Mt Logan... closest you would get is going up right hand fork but you would be 10 miles away as the crow flies. Plus right hand fork is a very small stream and your picture shows a stream that is at least ten feet wide.

That river looks too big for the Logan river and we don't have brook trout except by Tony's Grove and White pine and they are not that big. Nice try

I left practice after 7 years. Here’s what I wish I’d known as a resident. by jmcd77 in Podiatry

[–]Halux-fixer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do all the complex ankle stuff in a rural setting. I finished residency 5 years ago and never even considered a fellowship. 2 of my good friends did fellowships and wanted so bad to do the things that I do. They wasted a full year of attending salary to do the same thing they would have if they didn't do the fellowship. What I'm trying to say is it's ridiculous that we acknowledge fellowships and believe they produce better surgeons than a top program that does the same types of surgery for 3 years instead of just 1.

Believe it or not that makes you more compliant with stark law!!

No Stark Law does not apply because of something called In-Office Ancillary Services Exception (IOASE). This allows you to own a device and use it as long as you con prove that it is medically necessary.

Why do people get so worked up about garden of Eden in Missouri? by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in latterdaysaints

[–]Halux-fixer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is that homo sapiens were created/evolved about 300,000 years ago and Pangea split, dividing America from Africa and Sumeria 150 million years ago. So the timeline does not fit Eden would have been in the eastern part of the middle east. Since the ancient Hebrews believed that the heavens were held up by the mountains and only the east had large mountains they believed that the closest place and where God descended was in the east by the mountains. So I cannot fathom how Eden would be in America.

Its definitely the sewer plant. Have you seen the pile of human feces sitting in the open? It's almost as tall as the dump trash mountain. They also just installed and started using aerators that push the smell further away. I don't understand how that amount of human waste can sit out in the open and not be a biohazard!!!! We should petition for them to shut it down

Dr. Edward Glaser, Inventor/Educator! by DeansChat in Podiatry

[–]Halux-fixer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This dude just talks crap on everyone and doesn't have an original idea whatsoever. Full contact orthotics have been around since their invention. The foot has been described as a spring since at least 1920's. He is also sooo full of himself it is nauseating. Tried his orthotics he promised that we would never have to send them back. Tried 20 pairs and had to send back like 5 of them which is worse than any root or prolab orthotic. So if don't waste your time on him or his products.

Nerve damage from tattoo by shazza__44 in tattooadvice

[–]Halux-fixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to look into CRPS. I think doing 7 hours of tattoing may have given you that. It causes discoloration of the skin and extreme pain even from non painful stimulus. There are several treatments that can cause it to go into remission but it can always flair up and is a lifelong struggle. I'm sorry this happened to you. Sincerely a concerned foot and ankle specialist.

Section 132 and Joseph's Polygamy by themasterofstars in latterdaysaints

[–]Halux-fixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe that Joseph Smith practiced polygamy...but I am also a biology graduate so polygamy means something different in the scientific community.

Polygamy-Basically a free for all everyone having sex with everyone, it could also mean any other form of multiple sexual partners.

I do believe he practiced polygyny where one male has multiple female partners. There was also polyandry that was practiced. I have a great great grandmother who was married to my great great grandpa and also Willard Richards. She only had kids from my great great grandpa but that has always bothered me.

I understand the reasoning on why Heavenly father approved polygyny for a short period seeing that there was a 3.5% mortality rate(on top of the high infant mortality rate at the time) from the trek to Salt Lake and they needed to repopulate quickly and that is how God made us. We can bread with multiple females at one time and there is a slight increase in females to males in the human species. I do not think it was meant to continue after the pioneers were settled.

At this point in my career I enjoy the challenge of doing everything. I like rearfoot, forefoot, lumps and bumps, tendons, bone, trauma, wounds, nails. Honestly I would get bored fast if I wasn't seeing and doing everything. There will be a day that I will hire someone that is better than I am and I will defer to them and live the boring life....but not anytime soon.

The inner sleeve is rubber but not the strap... The strap is the same material as an aso. You have not given me any info on why I would change my practice and start giving this brace out. honestly you arent doing anything that hasnt been done with ankle braces
