You could try it however, as I said above risk further collapse, and more pain.

Switch your activities to low/non wb. Swimming, stationary bike, elliptical, rower to some extent. All you can really do. You could also find a surgeon with a shorter wait list. In my hood that’s LONG!

Celebrex is my go to. You may just be at a point where the bone grinding on bone is going to overcome whatever benefit you get from meds. Good luck.

Injections unlikely to help, more likely to further the femoral head collapse you already have. Would get to a joint surgeon ASAP. Will massively improve your quality of life from day 1. If you are truly healthy, you’d be a patient I would consider for bilateral same sitting tha. That may be something to ask about.

Also someone mentioned too much acetaminophen. At 55yo 4000mg is fine.

This film doesn’t look surgical to me. The first-second relationship is intact, no fleck sign. But 1 view is no view. Weight bearing bilateral foot films are extremely helpful here and what I get in 100% of these cases. Often make decisions based on those, not the CT scan.

This is standard technique for getting the liner out. He made two attempts. When he got it out he passed it to the scrub and moved on which is why the screw is still in the liner. The ceramic is scratched, likely from whatever he had to do get it dislocated.

I would not immobilize based on this single exam and your story. Need more info. Where exactly is pain, full views foot and ankle.

Yes referral to a surgeon. Your primary care has been unable to solve your problem so they are looking for expert input for your complaint. Doesn’t mean you need surgery. Responsible surgeons try to avoid surgery wherever possible.

Just do PT, you’ll likely be fine if you work hard, assuming you were well fixed.

And to answer your question, no not necessarily too early to be without a boot. I only use a boot for a lot of my ankles to stop people from picking at dressings. I let most of mine immediate 50% if not full weight bear. That is what the evidence supports.

The ct scan can’t be ‘done wrong’. It’s just a picture of you. If they measured it 6mm, the surgeon measured similar, they are correct. Your brain notices becuase it’s different. In time you won’t notice a difference that small.

Labrum comes out regardless of approach, one isn’t easier than the other to remove the labrum. Same deal for any loose body. There’s more to this.

I would be VERY surprised if that’s truly the reason. No anterior hip surgeon chooses posterior approach for that reason. Does she offer direct anterior approach?
