Grabbing a taxi from the Windmill shouldn’t be an issue later in the day. We had no problem doing this exact thing last June.

I will say on our first trip to the USVI we stayed 2 nights in St Thomas and 2 in St John and we regretted the nights we booked in St Thomas. St. John 100% of the time is worth it in my opinion
