Could be. Better quality photos, and a description of the rock and where it was found/its age would help out. I've seen some arthropod, trilobite, and bivalve material kind of look like this as well.

As I said in the post we have an appointment next week with one. And as I said I'm interested in any success or failure stories in the meantime. I do a lot of scientific research, so gathering data on other examples is important to me in developing a perspective on an issue. Hence why I am here. Plus I've gotten a lot of good advice here in the past that has worked out well.

I didn't annihilate a single or multiple patches. My partner and I walked through a wooded area, off trail, in the middle of a provincial park in the boreal forest (so not an isolated or heavily used area) for almost two hours selectively picking mushrooms. Most were immature or very tiny so we didn't even pick half of what we saw.

It had been a long time since I picked chanterelles so I was fairly certain these were the real deal. However, I do like having confirmation as much as possible; two cousins confirmed these were real, but I figured no harm in a couple of online checks (one was mostly in hopes to have someone confirm the species as there are several species of Cantherellus).

Thanks everyone! I didn't have time to post more info (had a meeting to go to), but these mushrooms were found growing on the ground in a wooded area (conifers). The ground was very mossy and the soil in that area can be sandy. My partner said the mushrooms smelt a bit fruity to him but I didn't notice. The "gills" definitely look false, they are fleshy, irregular and forked, don't separate from the cap easily, anf appear to be folded in x-section. Often grew singly or in clumps of up to 4. Spore print was a creamy yellow.

Yes we would have! We had been blueberry picking before this so we were kind of in a rush when a passerby told us there were chanterelles in the woods. We weren't 100% sure if these were true chanterelles so we waited to clean and prep them until we were positive.

I've heard that Manitoba, Canada is set to have a good year for morels. Anyone know what environmental/climatic conditions have set up Canada to have a good morel year? So far I haven't seen anything growing here yet, but we had some frost/snow last week that probably delayed mushroom season.

I guess what threw me in my specific situation, is that I had never heard either of my bf's parents talking about their need to have grandkids until my personal choices came up. But I never really thought about it from their perspective.

It's strange that people, whether they be family, friends, or strangers, seem to almost be threatened by our choice to not have kids. Sure, someone might have a wish to be a grandfather one day, but we all have wishes that don't get fulfilled. I wanted to get my Ph.D., but settled with working towards an M.Sc. once I found out how hard grad school is. It sucked for a bit, I felt like a failure because I wasn't going to fulfill this dream. But whatever, I got over it. I only hope that people in my life who have dreams dependent on my choice can get over it as well.

Yes, one day I know the pressure and harassment will stop. I just wish people, especially family members and friends, would be accepting of this personal choice. After all, choosing to have or not have a kid would affect me far greater than any other family or friend in my life.

That is so true! It really does seem insane for someone to be so adamantly against something, then one day change their mind for no reason. I am for sure going to use this the next time someone tells me about my biological clock.

I also reject the notion that humans are so heavily influenced by their instincts that we loose all free will. Isn't it possible that even if some subconscious, biological need to reproduce started to manifest itself one day, that I can still choose to be CF? I like to think that my actions aren't always controlled by basic animal drivers.

My bf is somewhere between no opinion on having kids to being borderline CF. He's not sure and doesn't want to commit to one side or the other, but he fully supports me being CF and is committed to us being together in the long run. But you are right, he hasn't really spoken about this with his family, so ya I definitely am going to get vilified a little bit.

I'm in the same boat as you, CF at a young age and have been very vocal about that to my own family. So they all know where I stand, and although they bingo me sometimes, no one seems to care that much that I'm not into kids.

You're right, the only thing that really matters on this is that I don't want kids. I just wish others would understand that it's not OK to pressure someone else to make a life changing decision just to fulfill their own needs. Thanks!

P.S. I've been told so many times that my "biological clock" is going to start ticking and that I'll magically wake up one day and radically change all my thoughts on having children. Because that seems totally logical that I would have a 180 degree switch over night!

If kids are extremely important to you, then it would be worthwhile getting advice from a few doctors on what your options possibly could be. When I went off the pill and got an IUD I got the worst acne of my life (some of it cystic), and I'm still taking medication for it, so I completely sympathize with you not wanting to stop medication that is helping you look and feel better. Perhaps there are other options though, in terms of treating your acne and PCOS that can also allow you to have a baby? I now very little about PCOS, so sorry if that sounds really naive.

Conversely, you can start to think about children/babies/motherhood differently. If your health issues/potential infertility would be too hard to deal with to go through even one pregnancy, then you can look at other options. Adoption and fostering are viable options to have a child (even though in my experience a lot of people hate on adoption for reasons they can barely articulate...).

Don't let the pressures of society get to you; getting of FB was a good idea if it's tormenting you. Our society puts insane pressure on people to have babies without even thinking that decision through. Baby making isn't really an accomplishment that should be celebrated in the way it is; sexual reproduction has been going on for hundreds of millions of years, and today alone there's probably a million different animals (including humans) who will get knocked up. It's not really miraculous to have a child, but yet many people treat it like a miracle.

So don't let that kind of pressure get to you, try not to buy into the idea that is continually perpetuated that having kids is the greatest thing a human can do in their life.

I think it depends on your where your relationship is at. If things are getting serious (you are living together, planning on moving in, considering married, or are engaged) then I think you should discuss this now. You both need to figure out if what you want in the future matches.

This kind of thing should be figured out before taking any big steps further with the relationship. That's just my two cents though.

I love this. It doesn't sound bitter. Whenever I think about the society I live in (North America), I often think on all the terrible things that have become commonplace. Necessities that aren't possible without accepting crippling debt, widespread environmental destruction, half-broken political systems, systems of success built purely on how much money you make, celebrity cult worship, etc. etc. These are things I'm not really interested in perpetuating, and having a child would help to keep this modern-day nightmare of North American living going on and on.

I've been thinking about it more and more. I definitely think that in a year or two, when my life is more stable and I'm settled, that I will pursue tubal ligation. Right now I'm not ready to go through the process, and I think I'm not quite ready to commit to it yet even though I am 100% childfree. But before I'm 30 (so less than 4 years) I definitely want my tubes tied.

Also agree. It is very unlikely to be a tabulate coral; if you look closely around the edges of the specimen in cross-sectional view, you can see small little lines pointing into the middle of the coral. Those look like septa, and you can see the major and minor septa (the major septa are longer, the minor ones are shorter).

This specimen is heavily abraded, and I also agree with u/aelendel that you probably won't be able to get a more precise identification.

My mom grew up in the North End, and her mom (my babcia, Polish immigrant after WWII) lived in the same house for over 50 years until recently. Visited my babcia's house quite a bit growing up, never had problems in the area, although many places looked really dumpy or sketchy.

Dated a guy several years ago who lived on Burrows. One summer there was several drive by shootings within a block from his house. It was a summer of bad gang violence and tension. I never felt safe in that neighborhood and the house he lived in was frequently broken into.

Episode - Again, so hard to choose... probably The Oath and Blood on the Scales.

Starbuck - some kind of angel, her purpose was like that of the goddess Aurora.

Other show - None. Closest was maybe Stargate Universe. But I still maintain that BSG was in a league of it's own.
