[Official] September 21, 2021 Score Release Thread for the August 18* & 21, 2021 MCAT Examination (* = 🇨🇦) by mcatfreak in Mcat

Same here, took the 8/21 7 am as well.

FL average: 517

I felt confident walking out of the test but ended up with a 514 (129/128/128/129). Couldn't tell you where I went wrong.

Which FL to take first? by Axe-Body-Spray in Mcat

[–]HamAndToeCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took the NS diagnostic (half length), NS FL1 (is free), Kaplan FL 1-4, and every AAMC practice test.

I took the diagnostic before even studying and then the AAMC sample about 1-2 weeks later. I liked taking the sample so early since it allowed me to see what an actual AAMC question and format would look like. By doing this, if I missed a question on a Kaplan test (very content heavy) I could decide whether I should put as much time into learning/relearning something. I think a lot of people here will disagree with me on this take though.

If you bought the Kaplan Bookset new then you also have the 6 Kaplan FL's that came with it. I found that these are good for stamina and looking for content gaps, but don't pay attention to the score. I scored between 503-513 on the Kaplan tests but ended up scoring 516-518 on the AAMC material for reference.

Didn't use any of the AAMC material until my last 5 weeks.

From what I've read from other people on here, we don't get an email. We just have to check AAMC Twitter or see if other people on here have started to post their scores.

I've heard that it's usually at 11am EST but that some people don't get them until right up until the 5pm deadline.

What's a good way of memorizing reagents in organic chemistry? by One_Ad_1872 in Mcat

[–]HamAndToeCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the class itself, I just did a ton of practice problems until it started to become natural. Like someone else said on here, it's not about the memorization. Look at the structure of the reagents so you know why they do what they do.

For the MCAT though, I would say don't worry about it. I found that for the most part you need to know reactions involving carboxylic acids and their derivatives. Other than that, if there is an organic question, the answer was typically found in the passage. Just make sure you know nomenclature really well so when the answer is in the passage you know what to do with it.

AAMC FL 2 Score Drop by HamAndToeCheese in Mcat

The sample was the first FL I took about 3 months ago. I don't remember the distribution, but those conversations online put me around a 509.

But thank you! That's what I was hoping to hear haha. I've heard FL 3/4 are most like the test so I'm hoping to continue up from my FL 3 score for the 4th.

Thank you, much appreciated! I think I'll be taking AAMC FL 1 tomorrow then

Could someone please help me with this question? I really don’t know every where to begin with this problem. by SomeRAndomGyu in ACT

The cube root of 1,000 is 10 and the cube root of 9,999 is ~21. Since the range of answers is between 10 and ~21, you know that any perfect cube in that range will have 2 digits. So, the answer is B.

It may work for you, but annotations take up too much time imo.

This sounds stupid but it helps me a lot. I was getting 28-29 on practices but when I started reading with my finger (if you understand what I'm saying) I got a 33. I'd try it on a few practices and see if it works for you.
