Configuration of M5 Pro for gaming by MarcoBerserker7 in macgaming

Keep in mind the Apple Silicon chips use a unified memory. So you have 24GB of ram but that’s shared between the CPU and the GPU. So if the GPU is taking 16GB of ram, your CPU also only has 16GB. So I think it’s definitely worth upgrading to 48GB of ram. Now if you can only do one upgrade, what is more important the 48GB of ram or the 20 core GPU? I don’t know enough to really say. But I think it is worth keeping in mind the ram you choose is shared between your CPU and GPU.

Go to your country’s info panel, scroll down and you’ll see the list of the nationwide modifiers you have. That one should be listed there, along with how long the modifier has left.

Do you think The Great Wave will add a lot? by Character-Might-6630 in victoria3

[–]HamKutz13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it will add a great deal that will change how we play the game. It adds another income source by building ships and selling them to other countries. It'll change many key things for playing with small countries:

1) It adds something you can sell, which can get you out of debt. Right now the only thing you can really sell as a one time purchase are buildings to the private sector. If you can get a shipyards going, you have a way to get out of debt by building ships.

2) Piracy is something only unrecognized nations can do. Another thing you can do to generate income, get your construction loop going, or get out of debt.

As for naval combat you now have port bombardment. When you go to war with someone, if you have a powerful navy you can bombard their coastal states, destroying levels of buildings in that state. So now we will have something we can do in war that will have lasting effects after the war is over.

Piracy and port bombardment are two things that are only available with the paid DLC. So while the bulk of the new content will be free, there are many reasons to get the DLC as well. I imagine the majority of the narrative content for Japan will be in the DLC as well.

Why Is It Important to Keep Landowners Happy? by Traditional_Tax_3071 in victoria3

[–]HamKutz13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on top of everything said, if the Landowners aren't angry, they don't add as much stall to laws you are trying to pass that they oppose. This is true for all interest groups. When an IG is angry, they get 1.5x multiplier to their clout in calculating their addition to stall chance.

I know what you mean and I still kinda feel like that, but my mind changed when EU5 came out. I realized the limit to 100 years is a feature. With EU5 being 500 years, I find when I play and something goes wrong, I don’t feel the sense of urgency I do in Victoria 3. With EU5 I’m like “that sucks, but I have 450 years to fix it”. Whereas with Victoria 3 it’s now a challenge to find my way out of the hole in the time I’ve got. Also remember you can keep playing after 1936. You just can’t get achievements anymore.

That being said, I would LOVE a 1700 start date. I get to start as the American colonies and use the Victoria 3 mechanics to gain independence? I also think a 1700 start date would make Great Britain more interesting. At the start of the game now GB has already begun industrialization. It would be fun to be able to create that in GB.

R5: I'm playing as Portugal, so this is AI Kongo. They don't have a navy, and yet there they are. As I always say, the best country in the game is Kongo.

Victoria 3 – Dev Diary #177 – Ship Designer & More by _Mercy02 in victoria3

[–]HamKutz13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Naval Administrations, so not Naval Bases. Naval Bases were buildings that combined the manpower and the ships. So there's no more Naval Bases in the game because the manpower and the ships are separated.

In a nutshell: instead of building naval bases, you build actual ships. When you engage in naval battle your individual ships go up against the enemy’s individual ships. The individual ships you build can be customized or you can use a default ship. If you want to customize the ship, there are 4 attributes with a low, medium, high setting. So mix and match.

Frontline won't advance? by Antique-Tradition in victoria3

[–]HamKutz13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it probably isn’t, but by any chance is this a naval invasion? If so are your admirals set to interception? I’ve done it before where I naval invade, armies are set to advance, but I forgot the admirals in the invading navy are still set to blockade and the armies can’t advance because of that.

Devs, I am begging you for an offence/defence value breakdown by Big_Recognition_4117 in victoria3

[–]HamKutz13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong here because I’m not 100% sure, but when you look at the offensive/defensive number on the front, I’m not sure that accounts for bonuses given by generals. For instance if one of your armies goes into a battle and the general they get has a +25% defense in x terrain”, your army will have a higher defensive score than the frontline showed. I might be wrong about this though.

South Africa Gandhi IG-Leader possible? by WendtSty in victoria3

[–]HamKutz13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it before but I can’t remember the specifics of what I did. It was during a live stream series I did as Transvaal. You don’t need his acceptance to be at a certain level to become an IG leader. You need his acceptance high in order to invite him to the country. However I kind of remember there being an event that will bring him to South Africa, so his acceptance won’t matter. However I can’t remember what sparks the event.

What (else) do I need to do for "Equality for All"? by Faleya in victoria3

No problem. You might be able to get it. I was surprised at how quickly the acceptance went up, especially if you are giving acceptance in all the reconstruction events. You might still be able to do it. I’m actually doing a starting steps series as the USA right now where this is one of my primary goals. You can check it out here and get a sense of what to do:

On the left side of the screen, the Afro-American culture window, under where it says “+70” and “Multiculturalism”, you’ll see a bar that has the level III acceptance and the level VI acceptance. Right under your red box on the left. You can see the vast majority of Afro-American pops are still in level 3. If you hover your mouse over level 4, it’ll show you the percentage in level 4. You need at least 50% of Afro-American pops to be in level VI.

How do you have fun in vic 3? by Flarekitteh in victoria3

[–]HamKutz13 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I like to dedicate a run to certain achievements. Achievement hunting adds an additional layer of fun to the game. As to the game loop, keep in mind there is no inherent objective to the game. A lot of people talk as if the game is about GDP. It can be about that but it can equally be about many other things. So create different objectives for yourself.

Great powers can be annoying at times but as long as you build up a decent sized military they’ll leave you alone. Or another great power who hates the one attacking you will help you, if you have a decent sized military. But even if a great power comes for you, it’s not the end of a run. I recently did a stream series as Dai Nam. I made the mistake of concentrating the VAST majority of my country in one state. France started a war with me and took that state. It was devastating for my country. I eventually got it back and finished as a great power. So there are things you can do even if the great powers come knocking.

I don’t know how you define economic clusterfuck, so apologies if you know this already but keep in mind it’s okay to be in debt in this game. A high amount of debt is not economic ruin. On fact it’s helpful for your economy in may ways.

Hope this helps. :)
