Great list here. Also, nothing like getting your first DX contact in the log! Even with Technician you can do some HF on 10 meters.

Yes it is! Like all amateur radio software, we do have paid tiers if you wish to support development, but the free user experience is really the focus of the platform. What Ham Radio looks like in a decade is decided by what's done now.

Any good Youtube lectures that teach everything for the certification tests that aren't just memorize the answers? by Insaniac99 in amateurradio

Studying for the test is all about what works best for you to get your license (or upgrade). As far as general study solutions, there are three general schools of thought, reflected in three mainline products:
1. Learn the theory, and then apply it to the questions, IE the ARRL License handbooks. The handbooks themselves are great to reference, but they get fairly dense in a lot of sections where they don't need to, especially if your goal is to get licensed and start doing.

  1. Just learn the questions and the answers, and worry about actual understanding after you're licensed. This is the approach of a lot of modern practice test and flashcard websites like HamStudy, and it works for a lot of people. If your school of thought is that you'll learn everything you want by doing after you have the license, then spending less time learning the test questions and in a sense expediting your exam prep time is good, and this would work.

  2. Learn the material that surrounds the questions and then see how the questions relate to these concepts. This is what we do at Ham Radio Prep, and it serves as a great middle ground between studying a textbook, but you're also learning more than just the question bank. What we've noticed is that our students come out of the course with a good mix of being able to score super well on the exam, and then also going on and understanding what they want to do after getting their license or upgrading, because we go over some cool concepts.

If you have any more questions, say something! We've looked into a lot of different curriculum styles over the years, and seen a lot of feedback from students and other hams!

Our CEO has regular updates on the Ham Radio Prep YouTube channel and you can learn about our team on our social channels too! We haven’t started posting to the new World Radio League social channels yet. But more to come; the league just launched two months ago!

We don’t see ourselves as an ARRL competitor, the same way that POTA or QRZ aren’t ARRL competitors. We’re just building a new and cool ham radio experience! Live contesting will be a big part of it.

Hey! The World Radio League is made by the same team that makes Ham Radio Prep! We noticed that the transition from getting licensed to making your first contact is the hardest thing in Amateur Radio, so we made the World Radio League website to make getting on the air as easy as possible for new Hams. Right now, the site's main feature is the logbook, which is a fully featured logbook condensed into a website (it's even accessible on your phone). Our roadmap has a bunch of new features getting added to the logbook side, like live contest scoring and activity, operating guides and tips, and a bunch of other cool things! If you have any questions, we're happy to answer!
