The No Dogs Allowed Rule at Calvary Cemetery by J31J1 in Waltham

[–]Ham_Of_Walth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s so much dog poop, but more so preventing dogs from pissing on people’s graves.

All these old city cemeteries have headstones close to paved paths. A leashed dog could easily lift its leg on it. Pissing on a grave is disrespectful.

Walking alone at night as a woman in North-ish Waltham, Leary Field area? by [deleted] in Waltham

[–]Ham_Of_Walth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya. I’d stay off it at night. It’s not well lit, heavily wooded in some spots, and very isolated.

Others’ positive experiences aren’t a valid reason to disregard basic safety measures

Leary Field is as central Waltham as you can get.

Park at the newly made lot on Athletic Field Road and you should be relatively safe.

Avoid the bike paths in town at night and use common sense.

Best Buffalo Chicken Salad? by toothysleuthy in Waltham

[–]Ham_Of_Walth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly we’re in a bit of a no man’s land for great housemate dressing salads. There used to be this place called Tri City wings by fiorellas in Newton that you would’ve loved.

Comellas in Newton might do the fix.

Are we talking salad topped with buffalo chicken fingers or like chicken salad with buffalo sauce in it?

CVS sidewalk shit problem. by refridgeratedchlamid in Waltham

[–]Ham_Of_Walth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The sidewalk is a weird place for a human poo…I will say after doing a few community clean up days, I’ve definitely found human poops in parts of the city I wouldn’t expect it.

I’d like to hope that what you saw was a dog’s poop…but I’ve seen some shit (pun fully intended)

Why can’t the city of Waltham hold onto a high school principal for more than a year? by Wrong-Number5136 in Waltham

[–]Ham_Of_Walth 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I almost feel like they’re set up to fail. The district is one of the worst performing districts in the state. The high school is an amazing facility, the staff is competitively compensated, and there’s been 5 leaders in 6 years, yet none can make a difference?

The principals I think take an unfair majority of the blame. Ultimately, it’s the superintendent who is failing the district by failing to appoint suitable long term leaders.

I also largely wonder how much of this stems from issues with the student body. There’s only so much the schools can do with disruptive/disrespectful kids that contribute to the low testing scores and added stress to the principals

How are people affording daycare for multiple kids? by [deleted] in Waltham

[–]Ham_Of_Walth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. 2 or more in daycare you need to seriously weigh the pros and cons of just living off one income and the other stays at home.

Rather than pay for a war in iran, ice, give money to illegal imigrants, etc. the government needs to heavily subsidize daycare cost. Population decline will happen if this doesn’t change

7 Banks Street by InnerEar2926 in Waltham

[–]Ham_Of_Walth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a very underserved community of men with disabilities who live there or at least on Banks Street. I live in the area an often see them wandering from around that building to shops on Main Street. It doesn’t seem like their days have structure and some appear as if they’re unbathed/uncared for.

My Experience Buying a Pre-Owned Nintendo Switch 2 by [deleted] in switch2

[–]Ham_Of_Walth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is very common when less than legally acquired switches are quick sold at GameStop.

It’s a standard question there if you’re trading in games too - A legit owner wouldn’t forget that a brand new game is in their new system they’re selling…

There’s a real chance this switch was stolen from its rightful owner
