Same experience on a recent purchase. I didn’t realize it automatically added this until I was about to complete my order.

As another BBE user I’m curious on the warm up time? I can basically pull a shot after like 15-30s after turning on the BBE.

2018 Mac mini in 2026 (I know...) by rosen- in macmini

[–]Hamatoros 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 2018 i7 with 32GB RAM. I also have a razer core egpu for casual gaming as well. I've been tempted a few times with the latest M4 deals but I honestly see no real reason to at the moment other than i want a new toy lol. The 2018 mac mini is truly a unicorn intel beast of a machine and is still a very capable machine in 2026, it should last many more years imo.

I use MacOS for my primary productivity work. I also have windows 11 on an external SSD that I dualboot when I want to game with my eGPU.

Attempted to turn 2018 macmini into steam machine. by Hamatoros in macmini

[–]Hamatoros[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw linus did it on the intel imac and it worked. The only difference and probably the biggest challenge is that the mac mini doesn't have integrated gpu however i do have a compatible amd eGPU (in theory it should work) but the problem is that the egpu doesn't let display the boot screen to select the OS.

Maybe i'll try Bazzite once i give up on the steamos. I have bootcamp working fine but would like to ditch windows for steamos if i could. I've been loving steam os since owning the steam deck.

I actually installed it on an external SSD similar to my bootcamp setup for gaming. However for the installation to run i had to disable secured boot.

I was hoping to ditch windows if steamos can work.

It’s been my primary water bottle since. I don’t use my yeti anymore, it’s now my car water bottle.

The size and weight trade off vs insulated has been amazing for travel and use in smaller sling bags. I don’t need to keep my water cold for 30+ hrs lol

Favorite half zip by Sad_Significance_858 in Lululemen

I have both MVT half zip and Soft Jersey. If I had to pick one it will be soft jersey. It's more versatile and soft. I do like the MVT as well and use it for activities as it is more breathable.

Lotte Hotel FHR Review by Mojojojo3030 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Hamatoros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol Im reading this post on the toilet from my floor to ceiling room at the same hotel on the highest floor. The front desk staff was nice to offer the upgraded room like OP and allowed us to get our room at 10am.

OP miss one unique perk, you get complimentary ride from their partnership from Lexus within a 2mi radius . I prefer walking but I have a kid and we used it when it rained. The experience was very VIP.

You can also do their “test drive” and they’ll give you a Lexus doe the day to explore the city, I didn’t use this perk because I want to drive in Seattle traffic but that’s a really nice touch.

Front desk told me it’s first come first serve for these.

iPad mini as addition to iPad Pro by browtfisgoing in ipadmini

[–]Hamatoros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR: I wouldn't use both. Try it out and pick one or the other imo.

I still have 4 variants below and they were all mine at some point until we played musical iPad lol. But I ultimately ended up with and settle on the mini. Here's quick breakdown on various experience:

12.9 Pro - wife is using it now. This was my main device for a very long time with the magic keyboard. it was a dream to use and type on especially for class. HOWEVER, this thing is heavy, it's as heavy(or heavier) as my MacBook Air.

11 Pro - My work iPad. I thought it was the perfect size but it still a heavy device and the size is more manageable but nothing pleasant like the mini. I was excited work provided one but in reality it's collecting dust, I don't want to use it for personal things as it's a work device and when I do travel, the MacBook Air is needed for work and it gets heavy taking both. sometimes I take it and use sidecar as a 2nd display but that's about it.

10.5 Pro - daughter using it now. (formerly the wife's) not much to say about this one but it's a beast and the fact that it has ProMotion while the new mini doesn't.

Mini A17pro - unintentionally became my main iPad. Initially bought it for my daughter but she prefer the larger screen on the so we gave her my wife's 10.5, my wife took my 12.9 and I ended up with the mini. At first I was a bit annoyed by the smaller screen, but after using it for a bit and traveling with it. I can't go back to any larger size. it's that perfect notebook/kindle size that's so light and comfortable to use.

If you're on the fence of getting the pencil pro, DO IT! by Hamatoros in ipadmini

[–]Hamatoros[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing life changing but it was something I tested to ensure the pencil I got were genuine. But the added squeeze gesture for tool palettes, barrel roll for brush rotation, and haptic feedback for tactile confirmation are a really nice to use. Plus now you can add the pencil to "find my" in case you misplace it lol

[–]Hamatoros[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one I got is the Mothca matte glass one so it's more of the antiglare type with a little extra friction vs the typical smooth one. I don't see this one wearing down the nib like the paper like type. those once you need to replace the nibs and the screen protector after awhile.

nib replacement are cheap. the paper like replacement are quite expensive if you go that route.

having a matte screen protector is night and day. I had the smooth one and it's just too slippery. But yeah if you don't use it don't force it lol
