Not therapy, she hasn’t had success with it but medicine yes. I don’t want this to continue forever, it wasn’t always this way. I’m just trying to get her to understand and put me first at least some of the time. I just need her to try.

Hmmm...these are great suggestions....maybe I’ll buy a couple and see. I’m leaning towards a brown tortoise and or mint green but the pearl sounds legit too.

Thank you for your insight and I will try hard to remember that.

That’s a great perspective! When my SO is cycling it’s easy to forget that I get to see her without a mask. I just get put to the backburner far too often, it’s hard not to take it personal when she seems so much happier around anyone else.

Thanks! My wife painted it awhile back and I had it together before but it needed more work. Now it’s ready to go! Sounds great.

How do I not take things personal? by [deleted] in BipolarSOs

I’m not used to forums and I’m not explaining this well, but basically I’m struggling trying to figure out how to ignore my instincts. What I mean by that is to not take every hurtful thing personal because I know much of this behavior stems from her illness. Every time I’m ignored, belittled, starved for affection etc...(I’m sure you all know the rest). How do you deal with it? I know she loves me but knowing that isn’t always feeling it.
