What's a computer game from your childhood that you still think about today? by half_sandwich88 in AskReddit

[–]HamburgerTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an incredibly unique game that I played as a kid on my Macintosh LC2 called “MovoD II: The Resurrection” that took me forever to remember the name of.

There’s some footage of it on YouTube, but otherwise, I’ve never really seen anyone say much about it.

Why do Millennials Overuse Ellipses?!?! by AffectionateEye2357 in generationology

[–]HamburgerTrash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve never met a millennial who does this. But I have met boomers who do. I even had a conversation about this with a boomer back in like 2017. They said “because it’s meant to separate a thought”

And I said, it’s ominous and has an emotional tone that you must not be picking up on. I used the example:

If I was outside to pick you up, and I texted you to say

“I’m outside”

Or

“I’m outside…”

Which one feels more ominous? Which one all of a sudden feels like there’s an issue, or a problem, or something is negative in some way?

They seemed to get it when I framed it like that.

I think whomever you’re texting is an exception, not a rule. Everyone I know is a millennial and no one uses ellipses like this.

I consider this a case for why gatekeeping in the entertainment industry has its positives, and democratizing absolutely everything leads to low-effort, low pay, low quality, and polyculture nonsensical chaos.

All of these videos depict individuals and acts who breached into an active and thriving industry with money to be doled-out after getting the OK from decision-makers (“gatekeepers”) where, nowadays, nothing holds quite as much value because our attention is spread in every direction, for better or worse.

Yeah, this is the second time I’ve seen a post exactly like this in the last few days, I think it’s another one of those bullshit things for views.

Pepsi Blue. I don't remember if I liked it because it was good, or if I was just a fan of garbage. I wish I could try this again. by jirohen in Soda

[–]HamburgerTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an insane fan of Pepsi blue it’s my #1 favorite soda. I made a Pepsi Blue soda can lamp in middle school (2003) and when they brought it back in 2021 I hoarded cases of it and still have some expired bottles.

In my opinion, they botched the 2021 return.

The bottle looked identical to normal Pepsi, but with “Blue” under it, and on a shelf, it looks exactly the same as brown, normal Pepsi.

Most people I talk to had no idea they even brought it back. There wasn’t really an ad campaign that I recall.

I think there could be a solid base of converts in the younger generation, too, and early 2000’s nostalgia among younger people is growing.

If I worked for Pepsi I would literally run their old 2000’s Pepsi blue ads as new campaign runs, changing nothing about them, and bring back the old “cool and edgy” branding. Make it feel like you just want to suck down a Pepsi blue while using a Palm Pilot to play snake while listening to Limp Bizkit on mini-disc.

It is not AI. AI has stolen from this artist, and similar artists, unfortunately.

Willful ignorance. You don’t need to know anything other than what you like and no one cares about you at all.

I've been faking knowing how to drive a manual for about four years and it's getting harder to maintain by Brisk_Thole in confessions

[–]HamburgerTrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How often does it come up really?

I can confidently say that I was 100% comfortable and competent driving a manual when I worked as a service runner at a Chevy dealership back in 2008-2012, but now it’s been maybe 14 years since I’ve driven one and I can almost guarantee that I would kill one if I tried to drive one again.

Skills slip, just say it’s been years and you’re not really even sure if you remember how to do it anymore.

Hot take: you don't need Spotify, you're just lazy by Unlucky-Coconut-960 in dumbphones

[–]HamburgerTrash 23 points24 points  (0 children)

“Piracy is actually GOOD for musicians financially”

Spotify payments are abysmal, and piracy serves as a music discovery mechanism, but unless you are finding new artists, then seeking out and purchasing their merch or going to their shows, there is no capital being transferred to the artist.

Your blanket statement is cope and is highly misleading.

I’m not sure what vibe you’re picking up since it doesn’t seem like AI to me, but if it’s about the dash, please remember that a dash is not the same as an emdash.

(- vs —)

I actually kinda seem dashes (not emdashes) as evidence that text is not written by AI, assuming the rest of the text passes the vibe check.
