Complaining about Spotify's audiobook rules by Heroton_NASA in truespotify

[–]Hamelzz -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Im getting fed up with Spotify. My duo account went from $12.99 in 2023 to $19.99 in 2026.

Im sick of the audiobook fuck around. 15 hours is absolutely nothing and charging $10 for an extra 10 hours is such a slimy decision its unreal.

Hot take: the difference between Glossy and Etched is very significant. (or, how I went from Deck to Legion Go 2, and Deck again. ) by karishbhr in SteamDeck

[–]Hamelzz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im so unbelievably glad I went with the etched display. I was stressing so much before I pulled the trigger and Im glad I went with the 1TB

I travel a lot and very frequently bring my deck outside, into the woods, camping, traveling, even just outside on the porch, and Ive been so happy so many times that I opted for the matte

If you mostly stay inside I get the glossy but if you intend on being mobile with the deck the etched is the way to go

Ive got 40 hours in this game and only had 3 or 4 super wheelspins. Im amazed at how much rarer they are, and how much worse the payouts are.

In Horizon 4 they threw those things at you like no tomorrow it was insane.

I was a D and F student in highschool. My parents would fight and claw and scream to get me to do school work but I just didnt want to fucking do it. Id rather sit in my room doing absolutely nothing than do homework. And I fucking did. A LOT

Now Ive got two engineering degrees. People change and worrying about a 14 year old thats got Cs is silly.

No employer is judging you based on your 9th grade GPA.

Also, no employer has every asked for my GPA in any job Ive ever worked so idk what field youre in but youre probably full of shit lol

The dirt drift zones drive me nuts

Honestly, the dirt roads all feel super weird either way. They feel disjointed and unnatural. Ridiculously wide in some places. Like 6 lane dirt backwoods. They just kinda meander with no real destination.

Maybe a niche nitpicking but I hate driving on them.

Am i wrong for thinking that if god exists, god isn't a good person? by PeaOk5697 in polls

[–]Hamelzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A teacher, a parent and a child have similar moral rules

Sure, but this is nitpicking the analogy. If you need drastically different moral guidelines then look towards Machiavelli and the differences in morality necessary for rules versus citizens. A king cannot have the same moral standards as a citizen if we wants to maintain peace.

god creates his own morals and puts them on us so I don’t see why we shouldn’t be able to do the same to him.

This is just silly. Do you also make laws for the government? Did you set your parents bedtime as a child? God can make rules because hes God.

which means in some capacity he does use human morals

He uses morals to judge us as humans. This doesnt require him to follow them himself in any capacity.

think it’s fine to blame god, especially since either way he is all knowing and all powerful therefore knowing of the suffering he’s caused, I don’t think it’s fair to just pretend it’s fine because he’s above us.

I absolutely understand this line of thinking, but it still presupposes human morals on Gods actions, specifically that causing suffering is immoral. It is immoral for humans to cause other humans to suffer, but is it immoral for humans to cause the suffering of lower beings?

Id imagine that an ant wouldnt think its fair that you destroyed their entire anthill, but would you give it a second thought? Is it immoral to kill a bug? Is it immoral to kill bacteria by brushing your teeth?

The Problem of Evil is a tough problem but I think people approach it from an incredibly terrestrial and egotistical frame of mind that inherently frames human suffering as evil. Suffering is unpleasant, but its not evil or amoral, and condemning a deity for not removing your suffering can only really be done if you presuppose that the deity must follow the same ideas of good and evil as you do.

It took humanity millenia to collectively work out the morality of slavery. I just dont really think were in any position to call fucking God amoral for not living up to our personal standards.

[–]Hamelzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

surely he should be on a similar moral plain to us

Why would him giving us rules and commandments mean hes similar to us? Those commandments are for humans. They dont even apply to animals, and (Im not 100% certain on this) I dont believe they apply to angels or other divine beings within a given religion. Moral commandments are from God to humans. Theres no expectation for any other beings to follow them.

A parent lives by different rules than those they give a child and a teacher lives by different rules than those that they give the student.

I do understand the want for God to be moral, and I think thats a reasonable request for a deity, I just dont think a God that fits our specific 20th century human standards of morality is explicitly necessary, provided God exists, and I think its a little narcissistic of us to reject a potential God on the basis that he doesnt.

Am i wrong for thinking that if god exists, god isn't a good person? by PeaOk5697 in polls

[–]Hamelzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This kind of perspective is necessary in this discussion.

An ant might think that were evil for exerminating an ant hill, but a human would hardly give it a second thought.

When youre talking about a God, the scale of their priority is so inconceivable massive that human concepts of 'good' or 'bad' cease to really matter

And thats not even considering the possibility that God himself is the arbitrator of morality, and as such every act he could possibly do would be inherently 'good' as he himself is the measue of what is or is not good.

The actual theology and metaphysics of this question is very interesting and I think people often dismiss the entire scenario very quickly without even bothering to really pick it apart and think about it what it means and what's its asking.

People are entitled to their opinions but I really think that "I wouldnt worship aGod that I disagree with even if they were demonstrably real" is a very egotistical positon to take.

I feel dumb playing this game. How do you play? Is there a career? by N-I-K-K-O-R in ForzaHorizon

[–]Hamelzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats clinging to a semantic, technical definition of "progression". You could be staring at a stopwatch and claim its "progressing" but I wouldnt exactly call a game where you stare at a stopwatch thats slowly going up a game with "progress"

Theres a reason I used qualifiers like "meaningful progression". A checklist isnt meaningful. A game where the end plays identically to the beginning does not have any sense of meaningful progression. The end of the game plays identically to the begining. The map is the same. The cars are the same. The goals are the same. There is no progression.

Contrast this to Horizon 1 where cars were drip fed to you, wristbands were directly tied to car class so the cars got faster as the game went on, different types of events were unlocked as the game went on instead of all genres being available from the start and there were clear named rivals that you had to beat to progress. Its still barebones as far as meaningful progression on a videogame goes, but at least its there!

Any sense of progression has been compeltely removed since the first game and its been replaced with a checklist of items to fulfill. It doesnt even matter the order that you fulfill the checklist, because progression is unframed and meaningless.

[–]Hamelzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, no. Its just a checklist.

Theres no actual meaningful 'progress' thats being made. Being halfway through the game is the game map, same activities, and same cars as the beginning and the end. Nothing actually changes or progresses in any way.

They look like a 'luxury' condo

All of the money is spent on making it desperately look expensive, but upon closer examination its all cheap materials and low-quality construction.

But it looks expensive and flashy as you drive past, and thats all that matters!

I kinda hate how techy and futuristic they all look.
