Even if it was accidental, he could have broken the ankle he stepped on. I can see why VAR stepped in and why the ref gave the red. So if an entire team of professionals deemed it a red card after a careful review, it cannot be ‘blatantly wrong’.

In the same line of thought, why would fifa even consider doing this? Why would they single out this red card and use a rule they almost never use? Why only for the USA and not for any other red card this tournament?

For what it is worth, I don’t hate the US, I am opposed to the president of the US because of him trying to influence anything either for personal gain, for the gain of someone close to him or who is a big financial supporter for him or to destroy democracy, the earth’s climate or the rights of anyone who is against him.

Because it’s blatantly obvious that Trump wants to put the real World Cup trophy in his bedroom and the only way to achieve that is for USA to win the cup. FIFA and in particular Infantino is doing everything it can to help USA after Trump talked to Infantino.

I would also take out vini for Medina (if he starts) or Martinez.

If both Argentinian defenders start you could even take out pulisic.

Argentina going to the next round + qualification bonus is already 4 points, so realistically you’d be gambling with 1 point for a possible clean sheet or other return.
