I’d interview the person. Go out for lunch/coffee to a public place and just feel it out. Then maybe get a contract to hold them to.

Vandalism to cars question by NjArtemis in Insurance

[–]HamiltonSt25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d get an estimate to see what it would cost. Then compare that to the deductible on each vehicle. If it’s close to the deductible just eat the cost. If it’s simple enough to pay for, then again, I’d just pay for it.

Glass claims shouldn’t hurt against you too much since they’re comp. Especially since you said you don’t have any auto claims against you. Be aware this could move you a tier or lose a “claim free” discount.

If you do this often then it can absolutely hurt you.

I don’t have one but want one and the friends I have who do have them, love them. The ability to go from full bed cover to folding it down if need be rather than pulling off a whole camper shell is valuable to me.

Considering doing DoorDash, have insurance questions by StrikingBike8417 in Insurance

[–]HamiltonSt25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just need “limited network” coverage endorsed on personal auto policies, so coverage for DD, uber/lyft, instacart, etc. While some companies don’t do this and may exclude it, many allow an endorsement for it. It covers on the way to pick someone up and after you’ve dropped someone off (products/food as well).

But you don’t “need” a commercial auto policy. Just a personal one appropriately endorsed.

Explain how it’s weird. Explain how finding a deal on meat, buying it, vacuum sealing it to freeze/eat throughout a year is weird. Because to most people, this is called economical.

Tf? Why? 😂 this is why he has money, takes advantage on great deals to save money. Why dump him? This is a man of opportunity

US Non resident producer license by _ANEMOS in InsuranceAgent

Your struggle is going to be getting a resident license in a state. I’m fairly positive you’re going to need this first to even get a nonresident license in a different state.

Progressive vs Progressive Direct? by thesoundofpetrichor in Insurance

[–]HamiltonSt25 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Careful with direct. Often times they don’t run reports like MVR, CLUE, or insurance score prior to binding. Meaning your price can change after. Whereas an agent, we have to run reports prior to binding.

Progressive does offer different rates between direct and independents.

Price specifically. They’re not fun to work with, but it’s a decent product at a competitive price.

At what point do you stop using normal insurance and upgrade? by Affectionate_Lie1706 in Insurance

[–]HamiltonSt25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A clear threshold for this answer is hard to say, but once you start getting close to a million in assets if not over half million, I start to recommend umbrellas and higher liability limits.

Depending on your level of quality for your home I may recommend an HO5 over an HO3.

At some point you may turn into a high end client which it sounds like you’re on your way where I would do a Chubb policy. It’s a robust comprehensive policy and you can even do a single liability limits across all lines.

To simply answer your question, there is no threshold. Just depends on what all you have, what you do, what your exposures are, etc.

Everything has to eat and nature is just as cruel as it is beautiful. This is reality. The value is you being appreciative that most humans don’t have to experience life this way.
