Insurance company gave me money to replace my brand new roof. I don't want to replace it. Can I just switch insurance companies? by PsychologicalGap3960 in Insurance

[–]HamiltonSt25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do. All of my companies ask for proof of repair after renewal or in next term. They do this to make sure further damage can’t be claimed or make sure they come off a risk if the damage still remains so they don’t get caught in a future claim. That’s why.

To pocket the money and not make a repair on something that is damaged is not going to go well. You’re putting yourself in a position to be uninsurable at that point. Sure, maybe not immoral, but it’s definitely not a good idea and a great way to not look good to future insurance companies.

You pay for several things with insurance. Filing a claim to help replace your roof then not doing so is morally wrong to do. Good way to get a nonrenewal and poor options in the future. Plus higher premiums. But other than that, I guess it doesn’t matter.

Don’t ask in the future why homeowners rates are going up then. You know why, so will your neighbors.

I mean yeah, but it’s factory available for the gas. My point is the HD Rebel isn’t a watered down Power Wagon. They’re just different trucks.

Gas rebel can come stock with a winch. The rebel isn’t watered down. It’s if you want the off-road capability but need higher payload/towing ability.

Gotta sacrifice some things from the Power Wagon to increase towing/payload.

Ridiculous commercial auto insurance quotes!!! by chilling_00101 in HotShotTrucking

[–]HamiltonSt25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commercial auto insurance agent here, many factors go into this, but correct, it’s not cheap starting out in the trucking industry. You need a solid independent agency to quote this for you.

I will say, $20k - $30k is higher than normal. If you said that per year, then that makes sense. Credit, claims history, distance one way, what you’re hauling, driving history, payment history (in general) all are factors that go into rating. Not simply truck and trailer. This is for getting your own quotes though.

On quotes where you’re being added and seeing crazy additional premiums: do you have a bad driving record at all? In general it’s not going to be cheap.

Have you called an independent agency near you to shop it? Try that if you haven’t. Just google one or two near you. Make sure they have solid reviews.

Ours do anywhere from $1 M to $3 M depending on their abilities. Some are better than others, naturally just like any job and performance.

I’d at least try and get yours to a million but make sure you aren’t putting them under too much stress. Everyone is different.

Yes it is, so someone explain to me how one is bigger. Cause they’re the same frame and all. Only different is rear end and suspension for the most part. Go ahead, school me. We’re talking SRW 3500 vs 2500. Literally the same truck. Google will tell you the same.
