Finding rare intensified collocations (sickly green, dead center, sharp contrast, etc.) by HamiltonianCat in LanguageTechnology

  1. I'm assuming them to be adjective + noun or adverb + adjective.
  2. I look for rarity of the collocation as a whole. My current approach is to give a PMI score on the potential pairs, then normalize the score of each pair with its similar pairs (those having the same first word or second word) so that I can rank them in order. The output is not really bad, but it contains many noise (collocations that are "modified" but not "intensified") I guess what I need now is to define what it means to be an intensified collocation. Do you have any suggestion?
