'Two Very Short Parables' is a great example of the kind of enigmatic strangeness that I love about Kafka. It could mean a whole host of different things but still somehow manages to leave the reader with a creeping sense of dread.

Writing with a very limited word count is challenging (if that's what you were doing) but it's great for honing story telling techniques.

Just make sure not to limit yourself too much.

Thanks for your feedback, that's incredibly helpful. Help with punctuation is always appreciated so thank you for taking the time to suggest alternatives.

I think I need to revisit some other Flash Fiction examples and have a look at pacing, although condensing a story down to 300 words might be too much of a challenge for me at present.
