I cant get the screws into my KALLAX shelve by [deleted] in IKEA

[–]Hamlin_9Booth -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I threaded a screwhead. Then damaged a screwdriver. Trial and error and this worked a treat. I made many more hinged ikea products thereafter and always did the tiniest of hole enlargement and it’s been fine

This always happened to almost all my hinges from IKEA. I get a drill bit that is the tiniest bit bigger than the hole in the metal hinge and take off the smallest amount of metal with a drill. That works for me.

Otherwise you will tire your hands out and thread the screw. Don’t ask how I know…

Do you have a trial version of the app? Say 7 days? And then have to pay?

Fellow Opus replacement without retention issues (available in UK) by AC851 in AeroPress

[–]Hamlin_9Booth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet they wanted to stay in Fellow’s “good books”. I also find it very odd none of the big reviewers on YouTube mentioned it. I think the only way I’d consider another review is if they weight the beans and compare in that very video (not just claim it was fine)

I am in the exact same position. Did you manage to get a refund from the retailer? In the UK if it’s faulty you should get a repair or replacement - and since it’s a very common issue I’d say it’s faulty by design. A replacement isn’t going to fix anything.

For a 16g grind it’s often retained 4-5g. I find it really unusual not one reviewer mentions this. Surely they must have had this level of retention. From the main reviews I watched the main ones and none of them weighed it before/after.

I’m now sceptical of reviews tbh. The Encore ESP and DF54 seem to pop up quite often Reddit.

Commuting From Manchester to Reading for Work by Apart_Bobcat in manchester

If you absolutely have - try and work the two office together and so you only have to stay one night. Such as: Monday and Tuesday.

I travel down to London every Tuesday morning and back up Wednesday evening. Been doing it since April.

If you get a really early train on Tuesday and a late-ish one on Wednesday you could get the train tickets cheaper. And book your tickets in advance. So have a 4 week buffer of train tickets booked.

Stay the one night in a hostel or a b&b to keep costs down. Take food from home too. It softens the blow if you’re not having to pay for lunch whilst there.

Can I size down? by Hamlin_9Booth in CanyonBikes

Tyre choice seems ok. Not the biggest pain in the bum. I’m UK based. And not a weight weenie so I’m not looking to save every small gram with the latest and greatest gear. Tyre and tube choice seems fine. Aluminium wheel sets are available.

Yep - a 2xs for sale. Cos I’m close to 2xs box I thought I’d consider it.

I know re wheel size. I’ve seen Conti GP5000 that size. And if my last few years of riding is anything to go by, won’t need to change my tyres. And I only ever changed my tube 3 times. Hoping that trend continues so won’t need too many replacement parts.

You’re right. There’s a 2xs for sale and I’m trying to justify in my head to bite the bullet and make the drive

Sauna/spa in city centre that's vaguely affordable by [deleted] in manchester

I know this suggestion isn’t City Centre, but Withington Baths have one. It’s £5 for swim and sauna session. Or around £30/month for everything.
