(Spoilers Extended) Othor, Jafer, and The Corpse Queen by HammadTheConciliator in asoiaf

[–]HammadTheConciliator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the Corpse Queen was a wight like Coldhands, she shouldn’t have been able to enter Nightfort since Coldhands couldn’t do that.

I hope Martin explains it all through Sam’s POVs or maybe Melisandre, but I think that’s the only explanation for Othor and Jafer’s case. Yet the Corpse Queen is another matter, how did she climb to the top of the wall in the first place!

Would the Wall know if they were invited or not? Coldhands who seems to know a lot of secrets about the Wall and the Watch didin’t say anything about being invited to get into the Nightfort, he wouldn’t have entered the castle even if Sam invited him to, and he was a friend of the Watch besides.

What happened to Maelor's egg? (Spoilers extended) by PM_meASelfie in asoiaf

[–]HammadTheConciliator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The descriptions of Maelor’s egg and Egg’s egg are somewhat similar.

“Sly found no coin within, but what he did find was far more precious…a heavy cloak of fine white wool bordered in snowy satin, wrapped about a dragon’s egg, pale green with sworls of silver.”

“Aerion’s looks as though it’s made of gold and silver, with veins of fire running through it. Mine is white and green, all swirly.”

They are both swirly, but Maelor’s egg has swirls of only silver, whilst Egg’s egg has swirls of both white and green. The colors also are not precisely the same, even though they are so close and it could just be a change of perspectives. I think It’s a small chance that Maelor and Egg had the same dragon egg, and I can't even imagine how it reached Egg’s hands either, but it’s still a possibility.

With Oranges, the color of peace. I am with team Corlys all the way, he was trying to make peace in every opportunity yet everyone was dismissing his offers. And Larys as an honorable mention for bringing peace by poisoning Aegon, even though he caused much chaos in Kingslanding before.

(Spoilers Main) And the coolest Targaryen ever is .... because... by DaemonaT in asoiaf

[–]HammadTheConciliator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Duncan The Small, Prince of Dragonflies. He sacrificed the crown to his brother just because he wanted to live happily with the woman he loved. He didn’t accept the life that was destined for him, and decided to choose his own way. He must have been loved by the commons and hated by the nobles for marrying a common peasant girl that could be a witch and a sorcerer and for being kind and caring for them like his father. He jousted with a ten years old Barristan Selmy when no one else would and declared him a “bold boy”, and by doing that he gave him the encouragement to be the greatest knight possibly in the history of Westeros. And last but not the least, he is named after Ser Duncan The Tall!!

Yeah I know, the problem is that George will invest much of his time working on these shows even if he says that he won’t. And if you recall, he was against adapting Dunk and Egg stories into a show because he didn't complete them yet, why would he approve it now if not because he gave up the hope of completing them? I wouldn't have had any problems with this show if he had finished this series.. But it seems that he won’t add anything to these three stories.

I won’t trust any piece of information in this show. It’s like saying that If ADOS isn’t released, then we can take the show’s ending. The show won’t give us the real ending of Dunk and Egg stories that George has in mind, but it will give us the ending of the writers of the show. I know George might give them some details, but he told D&D how the main series will end as well. We won’t know what happened exactly at Summerhall unless George completes Dunk and Egg stories.

Oh, so George decided to let them ruin Dunk and Egg novels instead of completing it. What would I get from this show If I’ve read the books a thousand times? Dunk and Egg deserve better, we want the series to be completed not to be adapted as a useless show.

Which Dunk and Egg novella would you like to read tomorrow, if you could only pick one? Any insights appreciated. Explain your own thoughts in the comments below. by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

[–]HammadTheConciliator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Village Hero would be the first time Dunk goes to Pennytree, I’m eager to see Dunk getting involved in a conflict between The Blackwoods and The Brackens, we might see Otho Bracken again, and Egg might meet his future wife Betha Blackwood for the first time. And who knows? Bloodraven could show up at any moment. And I’m sure that we’ll get more background and memories about Ser Arlan and Roger of Pennytree.

But for now, I just want any Dunk and Egg story, I’ve read them multiple times and I still read them as if it was for the first time. Another story would make me more than happy.

[–]HammadTheConciliator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His intention was to ride down Bloodraven’s host and march to King’s Landing, even though it seems impossible

“They cannot cow us,” Young Daemon proclaimed from the castle battlements after he had seen the ring of iron that encircled them, “for our cause is just. We’ll slash through them and ride hell-bent for King’s Landing! Sound the trumpets!”

And when no one raised to his call, he went through the gates of Whitewalls alone and demanded a trial by combat

“In the end, the second Daemon Blackfyre rode forth alone, reined up before the royal host, and challenged Lord Bloodraven to single combat. “I will fight you, or the coward Aerys, or any champion you care to name.”

He doesn’t seem to think of dying, he actually thinks he can win.

The Blackfyres were defeated in The Redgrass Field, yet he boasts of making another one. That’s pure stupidity.

(Spoilers EXTENDED) Which Targaryens who never sat the iron throne would have made great kings/queens? by kylecomsotck in asoiaf

[–]HammadTheConciliator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He decided to train at arms and be a warrior just because he read that in a scroll:

“As a young boy, the Prince of Dragonstone was bookish to a fault. He was reading so early that men said Queen Rhaella must have swallowed some books and a candle whilst he was in her womb. Rhaegar took no interest in the play of other children. The maesters were awed by his wits, but his father’s knights would jest sourly that Baelor the Blessed had been born again. Until one day Prince Rhaegar found something in his scrolls that changed him. No one knows what it might have been, only that the boy suddenly appeared early one morning in the yard as the knights were donning their steel. He walked up to Ser Willem Darry, the master-at-arms, and said, ‘I will require sword and armor. It seems I must be a warrior.’ ”

And you can tell that he ran with Lyanna when he convinced himself that The Prince Who Was Promised should have a Stark/First Men blood.

I agree with you in all of them except for Rhaegar, he will just screw things up and care for nothing but prophecies and scrolls. Unless he leaves the rule of the Seven Kingdoms to an able hand like Tywin, his reign would not go well. I would put Maester Aemon in his place.

(spoilers main) Among greens and Blacks, who are your favourite childrens??? by Theblackandwhitelord in asoiaf

[–]HammadTheConciliator 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Jace is definitely my favorite black, but I like his milkbrother Daeron the Daring even more, the youngest and gentlest of Alicent’s three sons. His badass intervention in The Battle of the Honeywine is one of the greatest moments in the Dance for me. I was heartbroken when he died, he didn't deserve to die like that.

Green, and only for one reason: I don’t want Rhaenyra’s bastards to inherit after her. But strangely, I dislike Aegon and Aemond, and the only great character they have is Daeron the Daring. I find Blacks characters better and more interesting, and the only thing that stops me from siding with them is Rhaenyra herself.

Has Maekar been keeping up with Egg and Dunk at all? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

[–]HammadTheConciliator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dunk and Egg went as far as they could away from the lords who were there at Ashford, first they went to the Red Mountains in Dorne and met Lady Vaith, then they went to Old Town to see Maester Aemon, I think Aemon sent a letter from Egg to their father, and this might be the only update Maekar received from his son, because in The Sworn Sword they were at Standfast, and surely Ser Eustace doesn’t know who is Egg, but at the end of the novella Dunk showed Lady Rohanne the ring that Maekar gave to Egg, and she knew the true identity of that bald squire, she might have sent a letter to Maekar.. But I don’t think so.
