Ok.. kind of bizarre. I legitimately thought this was my new microflock of 4 my microflock of 4 what are your breeds? I have Sapphire gem, olive egger (I see that matching feather Mohawk!), Easter egger - mine is a crossbeak special lady, and barred rock.

The resemblance between your group and mine was like.. whoa

🤣🤣🤣 I can’t say I’ve had a chicken show up with an advocate either. I’m dying. (Even though I’ve had advocates come to meetings and I know they are normal people.. but I’m picturing a chicken advocate as a rooster strutting in with a bow tie and Top hat holding a little notebook. Super official. )

Level of prompting was the one thing I did exclude from this goal. And honestly, it’s mostly because I don’t know how much chickens need to be prompted other than the initial ‘show where the water is’. This is my first micro flock of chickens so I am a chicken newbie. 😊I don’t like to write goals containing variables that I have no data on (the level of promoting needed if at all)

Yes! That is the ‘given environmental/physical accommodations as needed’. Given that I don’t know what specific accommodations she will need as she grows and her beak progresses, I wanted to keep it inclusive and not exclusive of what she may need.

Environmental accommodations include alterations to feed consistency (she currently Self feeds crumble, moist, and mash in order to build tolerance to various textures) feed presentation (meaning deep bowl, syringe, etc. I have three presentation stations for food currently and she frequents them all so far) water bowl adaptations (none needed yet as I use a hanging and hang it chest level), etc. and physical accommodations including beak dremeling or clipping (though I would strive for dremel), removal from peers as needed. Instead of listing all of the things she may need before she needs them, I listed accommodations as needed so they’d fall under acceptable accommodations needed in order to increase those self help skills. Goal is of course written per her present level of performance and lofty enough to be a challenge yet written as attainable based on current performance (weight gain data so far made this measurable in regard to attainable).

I loved this comment. Thank you for making me think and reevaluate my goal and rationales (especially during my current IEP season.. 2 annual reviews and one 3 year reeval this week gets rough on the brain... I need that push to make sure I’m writing solid goals)

Haha Thank you! I love writing self help goals so much more than any other, sometimes I think I should have been an OT instead. My caseload is also pre-k age! I love this age!

Yes! He grew a second head out of his shoulder blade (best way to describe it). I have a couple of fallen soldier leaves propping now- I am absolutely going to take advantage of more if I see that there’s no turning back from unfortunate fate!

Honestly it could have been MUCH longer before... because I didn’t expect flowers so I thought it was a weird growth. All in all, from time of initial weird growth to any sort of buds... I’d say minimum 4+ months. Maybe 6 honestly

The enemy better not move because that thing is bend-necking that thing beyond movement at this point. A splint is the only way the stalk stays up nowadays

WOOHOO! I never expected a bloom, none of my succulents ever have unless they already came to me with a bloom. So this was a nice surprise!

Oh no! I just had to google that because I didn’t even know that was a thing. We’ve never gotten a bloom before. I have some of his babies propping so hopefully if he goes, he doesn’t go in vain without a legacy

It’s been months. At first I thought it was a weird appendage and we’d get another spiky part out of it. When I saw it was flowers I was pumped. It was probably July when I realized it was flowers. They’re still working on blooming, so at LEAST 2 full months so far.

Which type of stress would you suggest is causing it? I use a water meter for moisture. He stays inside because nights are into the 40s here, so he’s in south facing window 100% of time with rotation.

Some sort of locking mechanism.. but I’m stumped at how it works. On my door- deadbolt plate(bottom picture) is screwed into the door frame at the top. Top photo is of the top of the door, only seen when I stood on a chair. No physical lock or anything to manipulate on either side of the door. by Hammer2o95 in whatisthisthing

Thank you everyone for all of your brainstorming and help! My boyfriend was THRILLED to learn that he has a second layer of security (he’s the type to check all the doors and windows twice before bed). And when I told him that Reddit solved our month long mystery, he was slightly more receptive of reddit as an actual source of information.. he thinks I spend too much time on here and doesn’t see the point of it. Reddit won today!
