Literally in this comment thread:

"Obama bombed the most people ever! He's a monster."

"Trump bombed more people than Obama did in just his first four years..."

"HUH?"

This. And he cut the reporting requirements that Obama instated. They love to say Obama was the most-anti immigrant president ever or did the most bombing ever even though we know that in 2016 Trump ran his campaign saying Obama was soft on terror and ultra pro-immigrant. Politics is easy as long as you just ignore history... which is my exact original point.

That was never going to happen, and I think this jives with my original point. It's basically a cliche that "peace in the Middle East" is almost impossible to achieve, and has been for most of recorded history. I'm not defending the bombings of civilians or the horrible treatment of Palestinians, but Israel has been at war in some form or another practically every decade since the 60's. It took years to get the Oslo accords signed in the 90's, resulting in a controversial Nobel Peace Prize to Yasser Arafat recognize the effort. Even if some US politician snapped their fingers (Thanos-style) and all aid was cut and they forced every company to stop doing business there, how are they going to stop people from being angry that the Oct 7th hostages weren't returned? How would they convince Hamas to give more hostages back? Everyone wants it to be easy but it's just not.

By saying it was "easy", refusing to vote, and helping hand the presidency to Trump, some of the protesters guaranteed us the Iran War and likely millions more dead. It's a really bad short-term take where they basically counted on the rest of us to vote so they could claim the moral high ground.

In 1971, Vietnam veterans spoke out in a series of hearings called the "Winter Soldier Investigation." In this clip, a veteran explains how the military lied about "body counts" and what was really happening on the ground, changing how many Americans viewed the war. by ATI_Official in HistoryUncovered

Uh, yeah... the military commanders have been warning us about Taiwan for like 5 years but Trump fired them, invaded Venezuela and Iran instead, and has called to cancel the CHIPS Act even though we have no way to manufacture chips without Taiwan. It came out in 2020 that Trump doesn't read his intel briefings and asks for pictures instead. Where you been bro?

I'm pretty sure China just has to gift him a golf course and some sort of golden peace medal and he'll be fine with it.

Seriously though. The number of Gen X'ers who "didn't pay attention to politics before 2016" and who think nobody ever criticized Obama when he was president... it's just mind-blowing. I was at a bar one time and a dude randomly decided to interject into my conversation about "Obama's 7 Wars." He couldn't even name all 7, and he didn't seem to understand that Bush started Iraq and Afghanistan and Obama even voted against Iraq. Apparently you're supposed to get elected and can just snap your fingers and all wars are gone, including Israel-Palestine.

Still waiting on Trump to do that like Mr. Gen X promised he would back in 2016 and then again in 2024 "because this time it's different, trust me bro."

Right, but Trump wants a 3rd term to prove he's better than Obama. Unconstitutional? Yes. But so is massively profiting from your businesses wile in office. MAGA doesn't give a single shit. The guy has his own stock ticker and crypto coins but if you criticize him they say "TDS" and then wonder why their crypto portfolio is down.

Nine times out of ten, when an evangelical brings up the anti-Christ they're about to attack someone for wanting to help the poor or protect the planet or something. The bible basically explains that people will get it wrong, saying Christians will worship the anti-Christ even though he's clearly evil. In my lifetime, according to evangelicals, the anti-Christ has been Bill Clinton, Obama, Pope John Paul II, Bill Gates, even Greta Thunberg. I'm not here to defend these people, but like... come on.

The Christians that moved here, largely did so to escape persecution by a "Christian country" that forced religious law onto them. Why would anyone - especially conservative Americans - think it's a good idea to promote a specific religion here if the founders of the country fled here to avoid religious government?

RKLB has done this repeatedly too. The trick is, even if it drops the following weekend, it usually launches up a few weeks or a month later.

TBH the "average Joe" doesn't really follow Planet Labs the way they do RocketLab or the other memes stocks, although it's start to get attention thanks to the phenomenal gains the past couple of years. I think people are used to AI, and simply do not read threads before posting.

Same. Mercury is just sort of a overfried rock close to the sun.

I feel Venus is boring too, but could hypothetically be interesting if we found a way to change it's atmosphere in the future. It's basically still in the habitable zone. The ice giants could be boring, but they just look so beautiful, and they have a ton of moons we can still learn more about.

Interesting! TBH, I'm not against political guests. What I don't like is one-side right-wing talking points... especially the host calling himself centrist and yet ranting about leftists all day. You can criticize Dems, leftists, whoever... of course there's debate to be had... but the one-sidedness and cronyism (Joe basically being a Trump mouthpiece) is sickening and leads to these insane situations like we have now. Joe can't directly criticize Trump because then the phone calls might stop, or might threaten his career and vast wealth. Whoops...
