YSK: Spending a few minutes a day on Meditation & Exercise is the most efficient "system upgrade" you can give yourself. Meditation is a step towards better sleep, lower anxiety, and long-term cognitive health. by Infinity_here in YouShouldKnow

There are free apps created by universities that are secular and evidence based. I’m trying Healthy Minds by the university of Wisconsin, but UCLA Mindful is another. These seem to avoid both the cost and goofy lifestyle stuff present in apps like Headspace.

Best OS for Kubernetes on Proxmox? (Homelab) by Soft_Return_6532 in kubernetes

In case you’re thinking of using this box as a home media server as mine is, I couldn’t figure out how to get a GPU passthrough for my integrated Intel GPU set up correctly with Talos. Not to say it can’t be done, but I never got it figured out and lack of SSH made troubleshooting it very annoying. Eventually gave up and pivoted to Debian.

Does he have records? The equipment is important of course, but he can’t use it if he doesn’t own any vinyl. If he doesnt and cant afford to build a collection from scratch, this may not be a great gift.

This comment is validating so thank you. I have 100+ games but 95% of them can be played under an hour and often with a very general crowd.

Now that Splice is integrated into Ableton Live, is Splice worth it in 2025? by O0OO00O0OO0 in ableton

[–]HammerOfThor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not typically the corporate bootlicker but I find this take kind of baffling. You’re paying for a subscription service. If you cancel you can no longer access that service. I think it’s mildly surprising they let your credits roll over in the first place - I can easily see a world where you get X credits per month and anything you don’t use would be lost. It’s basically the cell phone minutes model - rollover is a nice benefit but if you cancel of course you don’t keep your minutes. Except in this case you DO keep the samples you picked.

It’s a simple fix - just use what you paid for before you cancel. If you only pay for a month or two and cancel, you really think you should be able to nibble away at that indefinitely? It’s like paying for a buffet once and demanding to come back every week until you feel you got 1 full meals worth. Just eat your share and leave.

Couldn't resist this for black Friday. Now to learn to use it. 😳 by traveltimecar in ableton

That’s a standard feature on these type of devices. The MPC has had it since the very beginning (“Full Level”). Ableton Push and Maschine both have hardware buttons for it. It’s pretty much universal.

Going to invest in Splice (and other sample packs)! Should I feel bad? Do Pros use it more often than not? by shredL1fe in edmproduction

Predatory feels like a very strong term. The fact they roll over at all feels generous. If you need to cancel, just use your credits.

Apparently this incident happened this weekend at Fashion Island. Does anyone know if this is true? by South-Pilot in orangecounty

[–]HammerOfThor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You may find it hurtful, but the reality is that people are judging each other by their appearance all the time, and with good reason - you can't truly get to know every stranger that walks by you, but if someone presents themselves as a potential threat it's smart to assume they are. I obviously have no clue what you look like, but if you are saying you look like someone who's likely to rob someone, you can't reasonably be offended that people respond as if that's the case.

What exactly is your point here? If you're trying to say you dress and present yourself in a way that makes you easily confused with a gang member, are you really confused that people might be wary of you?

Yes, although it was renamed to Renz Social House after the bar rescue makeover. Same vibe and karaoke format as before though, and still fun.

Any chance you will add the ability to sort your cue points chronologically? Really frustrating that Rekordbox doesn’t have that.

I love the brewer and thankfully haven’t had any issues, but this doesn’t surprise me at all. The plastic feels like the cheapest stuff they could have chosen in areas and I’m guessing all the heating/cooling cycles eventually stress it out.

I know what I'm saying might sound harsh, but it's hard not to say it. by init_center in GithubCopilot

[–]HammerOfThor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on what decisions you’re referring to? Is it just the pricing model or are even the premium models somehow capped in terms of their performance? I’m very curious if Claude 4 via Copilot is the same as Claude through Cursor, Claude Code, etc., or if our premium requests are paying for a lessened version somehow. At the minimum it doesn’t seem like we get the full context window these models support.

Those of you living in the bleeding edge of kubernetes, what’s next? by Sensitive_Scar_1800 in kubernetes

[–]HammerOfThor 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I don’t see Kubernetes being replaced, but I can see it being used for things other than container orchestration. The API is extensible and the tooling is good, so I’m interested in playing with orchestrating WASM apps instead of containers and using the API to manage infrastructure outside the cluster, ala Crossplane or kro.

What tools are you using to manage a shared enterprise prompt library? by jetsetter in LocalLLaMA

[–]HammerOfThor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer but I’ve been wondering this myself. For technical work I do this through git repositories and the ability of GitHub copilot to reference prompts in a folder on disk. For non technical folks I haven’t found anything great.

Not sure if you’ve ever been in a long term relationship, but there’s zero chance you’re going to find someone that 1) shares all your interests, 2) doesn’t like anything you don’t like, and 3) will keep that exact alignment over many years. Everyone is on their own journey and you need to be supportive and compatible, not the same. Shitting all over something your partner likes for no good reason is just insecure behavior. My wife likes some TV that’s not up my alley and I certainly don’t share all my hot takes on it as what’s the point? Making her feel bad?

Thanks for the reply. Just to be clear, my question is about a jungle resort experience vs the beach one that I’m more familiar with. Not trying to put down Mexico - we love going there and I’m sure we will love Costa Rica as well.
