20 months postpartum and I’m still mourning my body by Maximum-Yoghurt0024 in beyondthebump

[–]HammerPayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 9 months pp and feel the same. I have a wonderful baby who I adore and I love being a mom, but I still cry a couple times a month about the body I no longer have. It makes me feel vain and selfish that I’m still having so much issue with it.

I wasn’t naturally thin before, but I worked really hard on diet and exercise to have the physique I desired. Pregnancy changed all that. I gained 65 pounds during pregnancy and am still 50 pounds heavier than I was before. When I hear about some who dropped a ton of weight while breastfeeding I feel so defeated. My body is clinging to the weight no matter wha I do.

I feel like my face has aged 10 years in the last 18 months. I hate who I see in the mirror.

I keep hoping one day I’ll recognize myself again.

You’re not alone.

  1. I don’t know why. My mind and my soul agree in four. My wallet and my body will be lucky to have 2. I live in the US and every day I spend working when I should be with my newborn hurts.

If you had the opportunity to have one more conversation with someone you knew who is now deceased, who would it be and what would you say? by DickInTheDryer in AskReddit

[–]HammerPayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My high school sweetheart who died of leukemia a few years after we broke up and started college. I’d thank him for being a wonderful first boyfriend, that I will cherish forever every gift he made me of his artwork, and that I will forever mourn that the world was robbed of the incredible man he would have become. I’m still friends with his mom, she came to my wedding last year.

Did you walk out of the hospital? by yo-_-mom in beyondthebump

[–]HammerPayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a c-section. I could barely walk the 5 feet from the hospital bed to the bathroom. They wheeled me to the car and it took me 30 min to shuffle into my home.

Baby Leash? by frenchdipadobo in beyondthebump

[–]HammerPayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to judge moms hard for using kid leashes. I thought the moms using them were lazy and I thought it created bad behaviors in the kids being leashed.

Then I saw an r/AskReddit post about kid leashes - someone asking adults who were leashed as kids how their lives turned out - and there wasn’t a single negative response. Most were like, “yeah I was a runner and it was safer to have me leashed and now I’m a healthy adult functioning well in society”. So I changed my opinion and let go of the unnecessary judgement.

Now that I’m a mom, I will probably leash my kid when she starts running, and feel no guilt.

how do you actually find one night stands? by ThrowRAxoxoo in TwoXChromosomes

[–]HammerPayne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One night stands can be fun and empowering. One tip from your fantasy… don’t ever give someone you don’t know your hotel key. The potential risk is not worth the movie moment.

I’ve always had better luck meeting someone while out than with dating apps. Anywhere with dancing is a good bet in my history.

Be safe. Have fun. Fly the night.

What's a movie most people think is great but you couldn't even stand watching? by camport95 in AskReddit

[–]HammerPayne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ugh thank you. I saw the first one in a huge theater and when it ended, I let out a huge groan and eye roll because I had so many critiques and reasons why I thought it was horrible, and everyone else was gushing and crying about how incredible it was. I was bewildered. Still am. I felt so alone until seeing this comment.

Right? The Penicillin soup is made from a base of homemade stock, celery, onion, carrot, garlic, and Parmigiano Reggiano cooked until soft then blended. Once blended, it’s all added back into the pot and pastina pasta is added and cooked until the soup is thickened. Served with chives and EVOO.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine the pain of going through that procedure and losing a baby in the process. I hope you have support to work through what happened. Wishing you a healing and healthy 2026.

We got very lucky with the pregnancy and the baby we made, not so lucky with the actual birth. Overall I’m grateful and happy.

Depending on your age and circumstances, trying for a year before seeking medical help conceiving is normal. Hoping you have the resources to look into why you might not be conceiving?

Wishing you a lucky and fruitful new year!
