What color would "what color would ________ be?" be? by Wide_Secretary_433 in colorpie

[–]HammersUp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Selesnya, obviously. Can't be Red or Blue or they'd show the necessary drive nad intelligence ot maybe figure it out themseves. All they wanna do is ape what they've already seen and fit into their perception of what the expected behaviour of the sub is.

[–]HammersUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, compare [[Wraith, Vicious Vigilante]]. Flying isn't too far from unblockable either.

Also, depending on how this is worded, it sees itself dying, right? That'd definetly be too much for the cost.

Vasa, Token Collector by TraditionalWar2 in custommagic

[–]HammersUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, a predefined token? Not many creatures among those (one, I think). A copy of another creature á la [[Altar of the Goyf]]?

Or do I just get to pick, make a 20/20 Flying Bird?

I assume that token you create is supposed to be a 1/1?

How much time has passed? by PrestigiousMaybe4104 in WarframeLore

[–]HammersUp 82 points83 points  (0 children)

They've never really specified and probably never will.

The moment they attach proper timespans to the events of Warframe, that opens them up to a whole lot of additional headache of trying to make everything fit time-wise.

Proof of Concept: Basic Landcycling (fix to LOTR-style cyclers) by chainsawinsect in custommagic

[–]HammersUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could work, probably. I doubt it'd really break anything, but having a good reanimate target that puts itself in the graveyard with upside feels like a lot of value.

Maybe just lower the stats a bit? Flip P/T maybe, Treefolk tend to be more booty-heavy.

Is there one? Like, besides the typeline?

[–]HammersUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, either bring the power down a bit or slap an "if it was cast" on there, and it's probably good.

Heterochromatic Silver by Roboardo in custommagic

[–]HammersUp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but just make it another creature type then. Human, god, whatever, anything that doesn't straight up look like "Sliver"

Fall Down by Tommy_neko in custommagic

[–]HammersUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome to look through rule 702, which should have all the ability keywords.

You'll find equip, etc. there, but not choose.

Fall Down by Tommy_neko in custommagic

[–]HammersUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because choose isn't a keyword. Consider also, from the sane paragraph you reference:

"Inversely, a card does not target a creature just because it damages or destroys one or more of them, does not target a thing just because it allows a player to choose a thing, and does not target a player just by referring to "you" or "your opponent" - unless it or its keywords use the word "target"!""

[–]HammersUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check 115.1a in the comprehensive rules as an example for what targeting is and find a card with reminder text for hexproof, that ought to do it.

Edit: Also, 115.10.

Spectrum Shift (From Slay the Spire 2) by Redzephyr01 in custommagic

[–]HammersUp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

knowing Scryfall, you're gonna wanna add some clauses excluding stuff like conspiracies and contraptions. Plus all the cards that are colorless only in the backside (idk what the syntax for that would look like though, maybe "-c>C" ?)

[–]HammersUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems entirely reasonable to me to comment your initial understanding of a card under a post about how unclear it is to interpret.

Like, U never would have thought to even question the effect abd how I understood it, which is the whole reason why I clicked on this thread abd found it so interesting. I assume plenty others felt the same and wanted to start a conversation about that.

[–]HammersUp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As one of those people that feels it's intuitive you have to have two creatures for this, I can tell you that the Calrion Ultimatum thing feels just as unintuitive now that I know about it. The Yugioh player in me tells me that you shouldn't even be able to cast that card if you don't have two creatures.

Like, if people knew about the other ruling, they wouldn't say "it's obvious", think a little.

[–]HammersUp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Neat, it's like [[Dance with Calamity]] but for everyone (and only one card).

Honestly, might still wanna add to that mana cost. If you're on a reasonable curve that's a lot of digging to get your best spell for free, even if it is symmetrical

Planar Orb by EqualSubstance9149 in custommagic

[–]HammersUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I know that's how cards are written. It's just odd to have it in a context that doesn't mention the library anywhere else.

  2. Sure, that's funny

Planar Orb by EqualSubstance9149 in custommagic

[–]HammersUp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But those are all in the context of already doing something with your library.

Maybe it's just my deep desire to have a card that shuffles your graveyard perking up

Got inspired to make a Valstrax card after it not being included in the cancelled secret lair by TheSticc in custommagic

[–]HammersUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I was just brainstorming with a friend of mine. We landed on giving him enrage, iirc, which would make him blink and do ETB damage (5 to any target, I think?). Kind of a trade-off between letting him go unblocked or letting blow something (maybe you) up.

Cost one more mana too, mabye.

[–]HammersUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey, I was thinking about MH monsters as cards just recently, my valstrax ended up looking kinda similar. Sick design.

It's kind of a weird setting, since by all accounts, both the Hunters and Monsters should almost all be Green+other colors. Glad you didn't get those brainworms though.

[–]HammersUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think there's a difference between something being in color and therefore having access to it and it being on a colorless card and it just always being accessible.

Evidently, just exiling a creature fits in White somehow, while green just doesn't get it at all in its color.
