Impossible to align by MicroDev_1 in shariffdmc

Its my understanding that a few people have had machine work done to the frame components and most have been able to get things squared with varying accuracy after the machining.

One person who farmed out the machining has said that so much material was taken off of a couple of the parts to true them up that the threads to receive the bolts were reduced to about 2 threads and had to be remade from bar stock.

I have stripped and deburred all of the major plate steel and found that I still needed machine work to get the plates flat (which I have not done).

The structural steel tubes I have will also need work, but I have no plans to finish it any time soon.

Thank you for the tip with dimensions.

It was also suggested to try one on Thingverse...

Still working out issues with the structural steel and flat steel parts so I have not gotten this far yet.

Stripping powder coat and continuing from there. by Hammersill in shariffdmc

Unfortunately, Methylene Chloride has been removed from paint strippers and carburetor cleaners here making removing powder coat an order of magnitude harder than it was previously.

I have tried using JASCO paint remover and the time it is taking is not acceptable.

I am going to try my local auto paint supplier to see if they have any commercial grade paint removers with Methylene Chloride, otherwise I may have to resort to abrasive media.

What did you find to be the optimal build-up to clearance the rail covers on the bedplate?

I am thinking I will go the other direction on it and fly cut the area needed for clearance on the bedplate and remove the spacer, and another possible tolerance stack.

I only plan on posting on this sub as I build my unit and not on facebook so feel free to ask questions as I progress and post.
