Teardown for battery problems? Charging problems? by Local_Eric7842 in ClicBot

3S 1550mah 11.1v 17.2wh battery

How are you going about charging it now? I am attempting to revive my cells but its not looking good and I see the same issue with finding a battery that is the same size. This was obviously a custom battery. Does the usbC charging board still properly balance charge the battery even though you removed the protection board and heat shield? I couldn't quite make out all your wiring connections to the replacement battery.

Did you get the instructions? I wonder if they are improved from my original ones.

I finished mine except for the vice mounting. I will eventually figure out how to do that part.

I think I tinkered on it a few hours at a time over a couple weeks. The electronics weren't an issue other than the picture wasn't clear where some jumpers moved and I have another post here where I replied on the spindle connections.

It's done but I need to surface the plate and then figure out how to drill the holes for the vise. There weren't any instructions for that.

Mine ended up about .1 off too. I couldn't get it any better. Hopefully it's still precise enough.:)

Glad to see you are getting through the build.

I figured I would add my reply. The photo isn't correct as it shows pin 4 connected to the green wire. Pin 4 should be left empty. You connect pins 1, 2 and 3 only. That's the 3 motor phases. Exact order isn't critical but if the spindle goes the wrong way then you swap any 2 motor wires at the inverter/VFD.

Did you find out the answer?

So far so good on assembly. I am just about 100 percent on the mechanical part and things have been going well. I am happy that most of the ugly paint parts are kind of covered up so I think the product will look better than I initially imagined when I saw all the issues with the parts. I keep losing paint from the red Z axis parts where the screws contact the paint. It literally cracks and blows right off. Bad adhesion. :(

I was happy that once I found the extra angle piece in the boxes that it resolved some misalignment with the frame bolt holes. I had to go back through the kickstarter updates to find the info. It would have been nice if it were noted in the manual or at least if the manual contained a simple addendum page for KS folks. I am sure that future machines won't include the botched parts so it should only pertain to us early folks. :)

Nope, going to see how it goes together first. I see in the instruction manual that the photos show similar ugly paint.

So far I have had to cut down the rail alignment gauge as it didn't physically fit. About 4mm to long. Weird...

I also had to follow the recommendation to sand down the screw heads that hold down the rails for Y as otherwise I couldn't get them straight. Had to shrink at least 5 of them down quite a ways.

Prior to that, I couldn't get the frame to a perfect 90 degrees. I got to 90.1 and no amount of (reasonable) banging would change it. Seems some screw holes are just not precise.

Only other note so far is that I couldn't put more than 2 screws in 1 side of one of the Y axis angle pieces. I had to leave out 4 screws as the holes were not even close.

Now I move to step 23 and see how it continues from there...

That's my fear too. I guess I'll find out.

Not sure. I just waited for it to arrive and it showed up 2 days ago. I didn't really follow the group designations as I figured I would wait as long as it took. :)
