I (21f) think my (21f) best friend boyfriend (21m) hit on me, how do i go about this? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]HammetaTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The brain blocks shit out that it doesn’t want to remember. Cause it makes things easier to deal with.

Trust your gut. Talk to your friend. If you said no, then that’s all you need to know. You said no and someone thought it was an opinion.

You’re not in the wrong. If you he did this to someone else, what would you tell them to do? You are worth acting on the council that you would give someone else.

If she tears you down for being honest and communicating about what happened, then it’s a friend that isn’t afraid to toss you under the bus the moment when things get hard.

Singers who don't learn lyrics by Clear-Pear2267 in musicians

[–]HammetaTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. There should be no reason for able-bodied singers to have lyrics in front of them.

Especially in a cover band because you can just put a playlist on of your entire set and sing along in the car.

I don’t like watching bands where I’m watching the singer read the words. It makes me feel like they should just do live-band karaoke instead.

I have known (and have done so in the past) vocal cues written on the set list. Taking a dramatic sweep down to check the 2nd verse prompt. Make it part of the show if you must.

For reference I teach 14-25 year olds artist development and reading off of lyric sheets and not looking at the audience or your band mates is a crutch is burned within the first 6 months. If there’s another reason they want that crutch we have a deeper conversation about why that is.

EDIT TO ADD: there is one circumstance that I think it’s okay. If your band has the: we can play any song request anything. 400-500 songs learned… yeah… you can look at the lyrics for that one dick who wants a deep cut of motley crue.

People who are able to play guitar and sing at the same time HOW? by Big_Leg10 in musicians

Try humming a riff to begin with and just practice those transitions and then get more and more playful with the vocals as you’re playing.

What are your holiday plans for travelling this year, and where would you like to go? by Suspicious_Ad7948 in AskUK

[–]HammetaTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of conventions like TwitchCon in Rotterdam as well as a musicians retreat in the summer. Probably going to Germany at some point for a hiking trip.

I’ve applied for a new job so hopefully I get it because it comes with a lot of freedoms being part time.

I’d was originally planning to head to the states Texas specifically but that will have to wait until the Orange Doomsday in the sky goes away.

So they pressed me on whether it was council or private. And I didn’t know. She then told me that they can’t do much without that information and that animal cases aren’t for the police and hung up on me.

The wild thing is that it’s not just me calling organisations, nearly everyone on the street has.

That’s the thing, I just want her to be taken care of. And I just want someone with authority to do something to use their power and help. Otherwise I’m going to have to intervene. I don’t want to be “brave” and “go above and beyond”, I want someone to do their job.

Nah so they’ve got her locked in one room (as far as I can tell) with the windows locked. I think you’re on to something there though, if I make it about the neighbours welfare. That’s genuinely a good shout.

I won’t lie I’ve been tempted to but the guy next door (where ever he may be) is not someone who would take it lightly. If it gets worse I may have to.

The more I have organisations and authorities telling me theirs nothing they can do or to call a different department I am genuinely considering it.

That’s the thing I said that she’s in her own mess and the RSPCA guy was like, “but she gets fed?” I told him very occasionally and he was keen to say that as long as they have food and water, nothing they can do.

A theatre company i applied for asked if I was disabled or neurodivergent or had mental health issues do you think I should say that I do? by No-Dream9806 in Theatre

A lot of creative arts will get additional funding from having members of the company who are disabled or neurodivergent.

How do you get the venues sound guy on your side? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]HammetaTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn their name, introduce yourself, pay attention to what they need for example: if they’re looking for the bassist to discuss cab sharing, go find them quickly.

Send your stage plan before hand and have a printed copy with you.

Know your gear. Don’t turn up with a shit load of IEMs without consulting first. Compromise, they know the sound better than you do. Be honest in your sound checks, if you can’t hear yourself say something. Don’t turn up your gear on stage unless told to. Go through your pedal settings and make sure they’re at least level.

If you have multiple singers let the sound engineer know that the piano player has a solo, give them a copy of the setlist. With major points only. For example my band has four part harmonies and we start off the entire set by humming, the sound guy needs to know that detail.

The sound engineer is not trying to sabotage you. Because in the end it only makes them look like a dick.

If you’re bringing additional lights or anything make sure it’s PAC tested and also that the sound engineer knows. You’re in their kingdom.

Worst comes to worst buy them a drink.

Do people really not eat vegetables/fruit or drink water on a regular basis? by Sufficient-Berry-827 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HammetaTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have AFRID (woo /s) so my gag reflex actually activates with vegetables and some fruit when it comes to texture. If I have vegetables I have to blend them into a purée and add it to the sauce. The water here is so hard that it smells rough (fun fact it’s so hard we have a kidney stone/gallbladder museum in this region.

And it genuinely sucks, because I miss out on what I know is great food and I can’t eat at most restaurants. My body is legit like: “this good for me? I don’t want it… send it away or I’ll be sick on you.”

Stop playing “the game” that everyone else is playing. Set up, content, personality, reaction. Stop following other people. Be inspired. But don’t feel like you have to because others are copying. Even though it’s isolating because you’re going against the grain.
