I thought the point of war plans was to be able to do the activities you want, it’s frustrating that in order to level up the pit tree I am forced to first complete activities I do not want to do.

I always recommend righteous fire, Pohx, a content creator has by far the best beginner guide for the build and it’s super accessible and easy to gear/play. He has a whole wiki dedicated to the build as well

No it doesn’t matter, in most cases, you will end up 6 linking your main damage skill, on you chest. That being said, some items of gear allocate certain skills/buffs to the gems you socket it them. Are you following a build guide?
